SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Gas prices in Southern California continue to rise sharply as prices throughout the rest of the U.S. continue to fall. According to GasBuddy, the national average is down two cents, currently costing .65 per gallon. In California, the average as of Sunday is .98 per gallon and could hit by late Sunday or Monday, GasBuddy says. In San Diego County, the average price per gallon has increased by more than 40 cents over the last 13 days, AAA reports. The jolting increase in gas prices is a result of lower supplies caused by maintenance issues at several California refineries. The issues are reportedly affecting the Chevron and Marathon refineries in Los Angeles County at the same time. It's unclear when normal operations will resume. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Frustrated business owners are speaking out after a rash of break-ins at local wineries and breweries.Lisa Miller, the co-owner of Koi Zen Cellars in Carmen Mountain Ranch, says her heart sank after she arrived at her winery one morning a few weeks ago."The plant was move to the side and the window was completely shattered. My heart started pounding. I got very anxious," said Miller.Inside, she tasted more anxiety. Police believe the intruder was looking for the cash register, something Miller doesn't have. Instead, the burglar grabbed 40 pieces of consignment jewelry valued at more than ,000."When the detective arrived, he said this has been happening in other wineries and breweries in the area," said Miler.Longship Brewery in Mira Mesa in early April: surveillance video shows a person in a hoodie breaking a window, then crawling through the window. Two days later at the Black Plague Brewery in Oceanside, an intruder wearing a mask and hoodie kicked through a window, slipped in and raced right for the cash drawer, before leaving and driving off in a white Jeep Patriot. Detectives told Miller some 18 breweries and wineries targeted in the past few months. "This makes me really sad, mom-and-pop places put their heart and soul into their business no matter what their business is. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Family and friends of a disabled Clairemont woman are making a plea for the arrest of a hit-and-run driver who left her with serious injuries.Last week, a beaming Delores Odom appeared at a surprise party for her 59th birthday. One of the attendees was her friend and neighbor Maritza Gates. "She was so happy that day. It breaks my heart to see her in the hospital now in so much pain," said Gates. On Saturday just before 6:30 p.m., Odom decided to take a walk to grab dinner. She was crossing westbound on Genesee Avenue in the south crosswalk when she was hit by a vehicle that had been going westbound on Derrick Drive and made a left turn to southbound Genesee Avenue, according to police.Odom's daughter Brianna says her mother broke her back in two places. Odom has feeling in her toes, but still faces possible paralysis and requires complicated back surgery. Her recovery and rehabilitation is made more challenging because of a decades-old diagnosis of multiple sclerosis. "There's a special place for people like that. I don't understand how you could hurt someone and then leave them. My mom is one of the nicest people ever. You don't know someone's story when you leave them to die on the street," she said.Police say there is no description of the vehicle and are looking for witnesses. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Food banks across San Diego say demand is up, and volunteering is down as the Coronavirus pandemic spreads."There are a lot of unknowns right now," says James Floros, the CEO of the Jacobs and Cushman San Diego Food Bank.Floros says they've already had dozens of volunteer groups cancel their upcoming shifts, as the CDC and state and local governments advise against any large gatherings.Meanwhile, he says demand is skyrocketing, since many people are losing money from reduced shifts, or losing access to meals they get from work, communal gatherings or other places."We know a lot of the service industry are getting laid off, school closures, what have you," says Floros. "So, we're creating our plans to ramp up our service to the community."The Food Bank serves 350,000 people a year, providing food to numerous outreach groups who then distribute it to people who are food insecure.But as distributions become harder to coordinate with new social distancing guidelines, groups are having to rethink the way they get food to those who need it."we have to reinvent the paradigm and figure out ways to get food to people who are self-isolating," says Vince Hall, the CEO of Feeding San Diego. "Because they're complying with the edicts of health officials, but they're cut off from the food that keeps them healthy."Hall says his group has canceled all group volunteer events. But they're still allowing people to volunteer on an individual basis to help deliver food.The food banks also encourage donations."It makes me sad," says Hall.
