SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A false alarm prompted a brief evacuation at San Diego International Airport Saturday afternoon.Travelers were evacuated just before 1:30 p.m., with photos on social media showing travelers gathering outside Terminal 1 and on the tarmac outside Terminal 1 gates.Video showed a fire alarm sounding through Terminal 1 directing travelers to the closest exit.San Diego airport officials said a fire alarm did sound, however, it was a false alarm — though sure to irritate a few travelers at least.RELATED: 10News Flight TrackerNo injuries were reported. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A field trip to one of San Diego County’s beaches is making waves on social media after underprivileged children were taken to the beach in a San Diego County Sheriff’s Department bus. Pictures posted on social media show the kids being taken to Del Mar Beach in the bus Thursday. One parent told 10News she was upset when she found out how her child was taken to the beach.“It just doesn’t look right. It just puts us in an awkward point of view,” said Kimberly Steele. "I feel like they would not transport children from La Jolla on a bus like that."According to STAR/PAL, the nonprofit organization that put on the field trip, the trips are meant to foster a relationship between the community and law enforcement. The group is made up of civilian and law enforcement personnel including baseball, soccer, and surf programs. “The message has never been ‘you’re gonna be on a bus that’s used for anything negative,’” said Claire Leveau, Executive Director of the organization. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A 26-year-old was hospitalized late Saturday night after being struck by an SUV while riding his motorcycle.Police say the man was crossing an intersection at 5th Avenue and Ash Street around 9:41 when 82-year-old Herbert Green ran a red light and hit the 26-year-old.The rider flew off the bike when police say he hit a parked car with his head. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Officers were able to catch up to and arrest Green several blocks away from the scene of the crash. 545
SAN DIEGO (Daily Aztec) - San Diego State men’s basketball returned in triumphant fashion to the friendly confines of Viejas Arena, defeating Jackson State 87-44 in front of a crowd of 10,453 on Tuesday night.SDSU (4-2), just six days removed from competing in the Maui Invitational in Maui, Hawaii, scored the first 11 points and never trailed in a wire-to-wire victory over the Tigers.In Maui, SDSU came away victorious against defending Big East champion Xavier, but struggled in losses to Duke and Iowa State, falling by deficits of 30 and 26 points, respectively.
