SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego County Crime Stoppers and police investigators announced Tuesday a reward to find a woman suspected of identity theft and using fraudulent credit cards at Walmart. The woman opened two separate credit card accounts at the Murphy Canyon and Grossmont Center stores Dec. 18, according to the San Diego Police Department’s Economic Crimes Unit. The woman bought ,500 worth of items at each store. Police said the woman also tried to open fraudulent credit accounts at a Marshalls and Target store in Kearny Mesa, but was unsuccessful. The woman later went to a Chase Bank and took nearly ,000 in cash from the bank account of a victim whose identity she stole, police said. The victim’s credit monitoring service notified her of the fraudulent activity. Investigators believe the suspect is using a fake identification card using the victim’s basic information. The victim doesn’t know how the woman obtained her personal data, police said. The suspect, who is white and in her mid 20s to late 30s, was wearing a dark-colored wig while at the bank. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Fire-Rescue crews removed a body from Chollas Lake Monday, fire officials said. The man, identified only as Hispanic and in his mid- to late 20s, was found about noon at the lake at 5850 College Grove Drive in the Oak Park neighborhood. Brianna Yasel and her friends were at the lake and realized something was wrong."I couldn't tell what it was; it looked like a rock to me. Once they pulled it out and flipped it over, my friend was able to see the hand at first and it did look like he was under the water for a while. He just didn't look too good," said Yasel."The body was discovered almost in the center of the lake; a passerby said it looked somewhat suspicious. He noticed it moved by an rock cropping," said San Diego Police Lt. Ernesto Servin.San Diego Police are investigating to determine the cause of death and the man’s identity, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue. The Medical Examiner was also called to the scene.Chollas Lake, which served as a reservoir from 1901 to 1966, is open during daylight hours for recreation. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Padres players and city leaders surprised more than 140 elementary school students with new bicycles Friday.As part of the Padres Holiday Giving Tour, the team partnered with Bikes for Kids Foundation to gift 141 students at Horton Elementary School. At first, the group of second- and third-grade students thought they were gathered to learn which student had won a bicycle after an essay challenge. One name was read. But then a second student won.
