SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Several San Diego events this week will resume as planned in the face of the county's increased precautions surrounding the coronavirus.County leaders cautioned the public Thursday to practice common-sense actions to protect themselves from not only coronavirus but the current flu season as well, as several large-scale events are set to headline the weekend.This week, other major events in the U.S. were outright canceled over coronavirus concerns, including South by Southwest spring festival in Austin and Miami's Calle Ocho and Ultra music festivals. The health and safety of our guests and employees is our top priority," a Pechanga Arena spokesperson said. "Through public health organizations such as the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) we are staying abreast of the latest updates and developments as they occur. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Students and staff at Coleman University are rushing to gather documents and information to move forward with their degrees and careers before the university shuts down August 5.Each person who walks through the reflective double doors with their own story, "I was going to graduate in 10 weeks," Ryan O'Shaughnessy said."I would've liked this to be my final job, this is an amazing place," Graphic Designer Andrea O'Briant said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Sheriff's Department says deputies arrested a wanted man on Sunday who was openly carrying a loaded rifle in the East County.Lakeside deputies were called after witnesses reported a man walking around with a loaded M4 rifle around his chest, according to the department. Deputies responded and took the man and his weapon into custody. SDSO said the man was a wanted parolee and that he had a felony warrant stemming from a case involving an assault with a deadly weapon.It is also illegal for a convicted felon to be in possession of a firearm in California, the department added.The parolee's identity was not released. 658

The conference held at Qualcomm brings in hundreds of engineers, researchers, scientists and every woman in between. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego residents will have their chance to weigh in on the county's .4 billion budget for the fiscal year 2020-21, during two virtual public hearings this week.The proposed budget includes 0 million dedicated to testing, medical supplies, food distribution, and other needs related to the COVID-19 public health crisis. The budget also calls for the establishment of a new office of Equity and Racial Justice.Another million is earmarked for technological resources related to behavioral health services, including telehealth, electronic health record upgrades, outreach and engagement, workforce recruitment, and retention.The proposed spending plan is 9 million -- or 2.5% -- larger than the last fiscal year's budget.Residents can share their opinions on how they believe the money should be distributed on Monday at 9 a.m.There is another public meeting scheduled on August 12th at 5:30 p.m.County supervisors will vote on formally adopting the budget during their August 25th meeting.The public health crisis has pushed back a formal approval of the budget, which usually happens in June. 1136
