SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Gas & Electric has warned about 2,700 customers in several East County communities of potential public safety power shutoffs starting Friday morning.The utility company said outages may occur due to a red flag warning issued by the National Weather Service and the need to reduce wildfire risk in the areas. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diegans spend years saving up enough cash for a down payment on a home, but now the FBI says fraudsters are getting much better at stealing it.Hackers are getting into the emails of private real estate agents and escrow companies - duping would-be buyers into wiring their down payment cash to false accounts. They're also getting tipped off by celebratory Facebook photos about accepted offers, using clues like listing agent signs to get in touch with the buyers and pretend to be escrow companies - asking for payment. In all, the FBI says Americans lost nearly billion in real estate wire fraud in fiscal 2017, up 50 fold from fiscal 2016. San Diego special agent Chris Christopherson says the FBI can reverse wire transfers if contacted quickly after they happen. He said internationally they have a day or two, and domestic about a week. He said San Diegans can protect themselves by verifying payment information they get by email either in person or by phone with a trusted source. "Make sure you're not using a phone number you got from the email, be skeptical, verify it separately," he said. The FBI said another way to help protect yourself is to never to reply to emails that ask for financial information. Instead, forward them to the recipient you know, typing in their address. San Diego realtor Gary Kent was selling a duplex last year when hackers got the buyer to wire a ,000 down payment to a fraudulent account. They mimicked an email pretending to be from the escrow company."The buyer went down to the bank, said 'I need to wire the money,' and they said, this wasn't the same account number you did before," Kent said. Kent noted that the bank was able to reverse the transfer. 1804

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police are searching for a man with autism and epilepsy who hasn't been seen since he left home Sunday.Guillermo Gradilla has a history of running away, his family said. In the past, he has traveled to Mexico and Los Angeles looking for relatives.  On Monday, the Metropolitan Transit System cited Gradilla for fare evasion near 750 E St., Chula Vista.  Gradilla is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 185 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.  Any information related to Gradilla should be forwarded to the San Diego Police Department at (619) 531-2000 or SDPD Missing Persons Unit at (619) 531-2277.   705

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) San Diego Police are investigating the discovery of three bodies found in the trunk of a parked car in Bay Terraces. Police found the bodies in a car parked on Jaime Avenue at Doti Point Drive after a neighbor reported a suspicious vehicle just before five pm Sunday. According to police, the bodies are that of two women and a man, possibly in their late teens or early twenties. They say the bodies were in such poor condition. They were unable to determine race. The medical examiner is working to determine the cause of death and their identities. Neighbors say the car was parked on the street for three days, but that's not uncommon.“A lot of people will park and they will walk to those apartments behind here or they park and they go to someone’s house over here, so it’s not really that suspicious," said Kevin Totten. Totten grew up in the neighborhood. He said it's usually quiet and is home to mainly families."It seems like someone did what they did, to these three innocent people and drove around and was looking for a spot to dump a car with three bodies in it," said Totten. After neighbors started noticing an odor, one of them called police Sunday evening."Once the wind would kind of blow, you can smell like, it’s hard to explain. I’ve never smelled that before. I thought well maybe it was like trash, but then a more pungent odor than that," said one mom who didn't want to be identified.The woman said once police arrived she noticed fluids coming from the car. "Once the police were here and they were kind of looking to see what was going on you could see the car and what looked like blood dripping from it. I’m like do I need counseling? Do my kids need counseling? It’s a lot to take in,” said the woman. Police aren't releasing any information about the investigation. Neighbors say the car was an older model BMW either silver or gray in color. They also said it had out of state plates. "Whomever the victims are, the families, hopefully they can figure who they are and sort of bring closure to them," said the woman. 2085
