CLEVELAND — The family of a 75-year-old woman is fighting for more information after they say she received a letter from the Social Security Administration stating that she needed to repay nearly ,000. Teresa Licate of Stow, Ohio, is a two-time cancer survivor that suffers from a heart condition. She recently received a letter from Social Security, dated Oct. 17, 2018, that said she had been mistakenly overpaid ,796 and needed to pay that money back. Teresa's son, David, said she was in considerable distress when she received the letter. "Almost to tears. What am I going to do?” David Licate said of his mother's reaction. A trip to the Social Security offices in nearby Akron weren't of much help. David Licate claims an agent told him that she "didn't have any idea what the problem was." Since October, Social Security has withheld more than 0 a month from Licate's check. But David Licate said his mom's paperwork tells a different story. "We were able to go back and illustrate that they lost the data that the dollar amount was mistaken,” David Licate said. Beyond Social Security's mistake, the Licates are frustrated that Social Security couldn't see an issue coming with Licate's account. “The threshold for a flag to kind of check this out, to make sure this is accurate doesn't have to be ,000,” said David. “I would say a thousand dollars maybe." The Social Security Administration that it could not comment on Licate’s case until the appeals process is complete. "If a bank did this, they would be regulated out of business,” David Licate said. “They wouldn't be able to survive." The Licates also claim that Social Security promised it would send an emergency payment by Feb. 4, but they have not received anything as of Feb. 22. At least David Licate is there and able to help his mother."I feel sorry for seniors that do not have someone who can do that,” he said. “They're left out on their own." 1945

PALM HARBOR, Fla. — While doctors, first responders and local health departments are asking people to not gather in large groups for the Thanksgiving holiday, there are still many families who say they're planning to get together regardless. After major holidays, doctors have typically seen spikes in COVID-19 numbers.Doctors are sharing what to do if you learn someone in your group has symptoms of COVID-19 or tests positive for the virus.First, assess if you yourself have symptoms of COVID-19. These include cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, fever, chills, loss of taste or smell, diarrhea, vomiting, and severe headaches and body aches. If you do, medical workers say go get a test right away. But if you don't have symptoms, but believe you may have been exposed, doctors say you and your immediate family will need to self-quarantine. Then, wait about five days to get tested."The reason for doing that is that you will probably get a false negative test if you do the test, and the first one or two or three, four days, since the exposure because there's not enough viral load in your nose," said Dr. Lara Cavanaugh with Children's Medical Center in Palm Harbor.?Something else important to keep in mind is just because you get a negative test result after five days does not mean you are necessarily in the clear.Doctors say you can still become positive for the virus and they say you should continue to quarantine for a full 14 days after exposure. A breakup can be devastating, leaving people in an emotional wreck. However, there’s a unique service that is helping people quickly get back on their feet. “There really is a tremendous loss of personal identity, leaving a shared relationship,” says Onward co-found Lindsay Meck. “You sort of define yourself a part of that couple. You might have a pretty extended shared friend group, even family members.” That's why Meck and Mika Leonard started their company Onward, a post-breakup concierge service. “Necessity is the mother of invention, so my best friend, who is my co-founder, and I both went through our own big city breakups about six months apart,” says Meck. With a breakup comes the daunting task of rearranging your life. "Dealing with address changes, dealing with all the logistics, coupled with the emotions of being sad, but still needing to be a functional member of society,” explains Meck of the help Onward provides. With Onward, you chose from three post-breakup packages to get you back on your feet. For , the 10-day reboot will help you pack up, move out and provides self-care amenities. The 30-day recharge includes helping you find a new place, new furniture, and even help you setup all your new utilities. That will cost you 5. Then, there's the three-month recalibrate for 0. It’s an upgrade that also includes getting you a therapist and provides activities to join to help you meet new people. "You just need someone who can pack your stuff, make those phone calls for you, when you are just really trying to get out of bed every day,” Meck says. Starting over isn't easy, which is why the founders of Onward believe in their service. “Trying to resume by yourself, because you're usually with a partner all the time, so doing things alone would be kind of hard," says Meck. Right now, Onward is only in New York City, but they have big plans to expand their post-breakup service nationwide. There are similar companies, like Untied and Worthy, that also work to help divorcees get back on their feet. "There's no magic formula of getting over a relationship; it takes time,” says Meck. “But in the meantime, you want to be put in the best possible situation to move forward, and that can be really hard." 2272

MIAMI, Fla. — Miami-Dade County will have a countywide curfew as the surge of the coronavirus continues in Florida.Mayor Carlos Gimenez has signed the order for the curfew. Starting Friday, July 3, the county will have a 10 p.m. curfew until 6 a.m.Essential workers, first responders, hospital workers, food delivery services and media will be exempt from the curfew.Mayor Gimenez is also rolling back the reopening of entertainment facilities such as movie theaters, arcades, casinos (with the exception of tribal casinos), adult entertainment, concert houses, bowling alleys and other places that have recently had their plans approved by the county. That order will be signed later on Thursday.People who go to restaurants will have to keep their masks on while seated at the table. They will only be allowed to take the masks off only to eat and drink. Mayor Gimenez says if you are waiting for your meal, keep the masks on while you are having a conversation. Hospitals are also experiencing an uptick in patients, and medical professionals are seeing a rise in 18 to 34 year olds who are getting sick, Gimenez said.At this time, hospitals still have plenty of beds, but some are experiencing staffing shortages. "The death of an 11-year-old boy, reported today by the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County, should send a signal to all of our community that this virus can attack anyone without mercy," Gimenez said. As the Fourth of July weekend approaches, Miami-Dade police will be checking out thousands of businesses and close those that violate the rules and capcatiy limits. Owners will face criminal fines of up to 0 and 180 days in jail."I do not want to go back to closing all but essential businesses, but the only way to avoid that is for everyone to take COVID-19 seriously. That means every generation - everyone of us, no exceptions," Gimenez said. This article was written by Lisette Lopez for WFTS. 1957

ARLINGTON, Va. – Within an hour of a food bank’s opening came a delivery organizers have been counting on: frozen chicken by the pallet. “Two weeks ago, we began preparations for the future,” said Charles Meng, director of the Arlington Food Assistance Center in Virginia. Meng remembers the last time they encountered a sudden spike in need – right after 9/11. “We saw a very significant increase at that time,” he said. “And so, this is just that on steroids.” The center typically serves about 80,000 pounds of food to 2,400 families a week. One-third of those they help are children under 18, but the numbers are starting to climb. “We expect to see is many more of those families come to us. That's really going to be the first bump up,” Meng said. Like many food banks across the country, the economic conditions brought on by the coronavirus are stretching their resources and those of families all over the country. “It will last them until we come back on Friday and I don’t have to worry about what they’re eating,” said one parent, Sarah Baldrick, who was in Ohio picking up food, during a distribution at a local school there. There is some cause for concern, though, when it comes to food bank donations. So far, the food assistance center says they are still getting help from corporations, companies and individuals. However, they are seeing trouble from some supermarkets. “That amounts, in our case, to about 40-percent of the food we distribute -- have all but dried up,” Meng said of the food bank’s supermarket donations. “So, we're going to have to significantly increase the purchasing of food for our families.” That means they now have to count on monetary donations to buy food for those in need, at a time when people’s pocketbooks are taking a hit. “I'm relying on the generosity of this community,” Meng said. “We all have a need to survive this time.” It is a time that’s now filled with uncertainty. For more information on the Arlington Food Assistance Center, 2004
