Spotify and Hulu are joining forces in an attempt to draw more subscribers to their platforms. The companies said Wednesday that a .99 per-month plan will get you access to Spotify's ad-free music streaming service and Hulu's basic package that allows you to stream TV shows and movies with some ad breaks.Paying for both services separately would set you back about — .99 for Spotify Premium and .99 for Hulu. The 71 million people who already have a .99-per-month Spotify Premium subscription will be able to grab the offer beginning Wednesday with an even steeper discount for the first three months. They'll be able to try out the Hulu subscription for .99 -- just one dollar more per month. The .99 offer will be extended to everyone this summer. Spotify spokesperson Alison Bonny said the deal will be available "indefinitely."Hulu and Spotify began offering a bundled subscription package to college students in September for .99 per month.Alex Norstrom, a Spotify executive, said in a statement Wednesday that the bundled package was "incredibly well received."Spotify, which made its debut on the New York Stock Exchange last week, is likely hoping the partnership will Hulu will attract new subscribers. While Spotify has roughly twice the number of paying customers as rival Apple Music, it's bound to face stiffer competition as Apple bolsters its original content as it goes "all-in" on TV.Meanwhile, Hulu has lagged behind rival Netflix, which has more than 85 million subscribers. But the platform has seen a surge in membership — growing to 17 million — thanks to popular original content, like the drama series based on Margaret Atwood's novel "The Handmaid's Tale." 1733

"Kenny Rogers is, of course, one of music's most successful and enduring artists. His uncanny song sense and impeccable singing resonated across the genre lines that he took delight in ignoring. The antithesis of a gambler, he thought deeply and acted deliberately with every career decision, and those decisions brought to light the songwriting talents of Hal Bynum, Mickey Newbury, Don Schlitz, and many more. Though he was by any definition a superstar, he lived a life of service to songs, writers, and, above all, listeners." 538

With summer officially upon us, working families will be shelling out more money on summer camps and childcare. In fact, a new study out this week shows that a significant number of families will incur credit card debt as a result of childcare costs. The Bankrate.com study shows that one third of parents who will pay for childcare this summer will accumulate credit card debt. It also found that parents will spend an average of almost ,000 per child, and almost a fifth of them will spend more than ,000So, many parents are doing their best to find free activities. Christ Church Denver offers a weeklong vacation bible school for free, and it’s open to any family, regardless of whether they attend church.“We pull a lot of people form the community that’s not just our church, because we offer our program for free,” says Christ Church’s Tammie Sawicki. And FREE is a big selling point to working parents.“Childcare in Denver is relatively expensive,” a mom says as she dropped her kids off. “And summer activities and camps can add up, especially if you have two children.”Lauren Hipp specializes in early learning for the non-profit advocacy group Mom’s Rising. Hipp says it’s a tough time to be a working parent.“Childcare costs have continued to rise over the last couple decades,” Hipp says. She adds that having a stimulating place for kids to go during the summer is key.“Most American children live in families where all available parents are in the workforce,” Hipp says. “So childcare is a real necessity for families and it’s a great opportunity for children to get healthy growth development so they’re ready and successful in life.”Other places to consider that often provide more affordable week-long camps for kids: a local YMCA, parks and recreation department, or a local Council for the Arts chapter. 1836
