SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Several City Heights homes were evacuated Tuesday afternoon after authorities responding to a medical call found possible military ordnance. The incident began after San Diego Police were called to the scene to investigate a death at 50th and Wightman Streets around 2 p.m. Shortly after police arrived, San Diego Fire Rescue says bomb units responded to the area after what is believed to be a military ordnance was discovered. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Statewide DUI arrests and fatalities saw a significant increase over Christmas weekend. A total of 47 people died in DUI-related crashes in 2018 compared to 27 deaths over the same time period in 2017. DUI arrests also saw a significant rise. More than 1,100 people were arrested for DUI in 2018 compared to 917 in 2017. In San Diego County, three people died due to DUI-related crashes, tying with 2017. But soon, the mural-clad location could be listed within the National Park System.The Chicano Park Preservation Act (H.R. 486), introduced in January by Rep. Juan Vargas of the 51st Congressional District, would require the Department of the Interior to conduct a special resource study of Chicano Park and its murals and evaluate the site's national significance.
