FRESNO, Calif. (AP) — Police say a central California man who called 911 and admitted stabbing his mother to death was later shot by officers after he advanced on them while clutching a kitchen knife.Twenty-two-year-old Miguel Carranza is expected to survive and is in custody on suspicion of murder. Carranza called 911 Saturday to report that someone had been killed at the Fresno home he shared with his mother and sister. As the conversation continued, the caller eventually told the dispatcher that he had stabbed his mother. Officials say he was shot after ignoring commands to drop the knife while walking toward officers. 637
First lady Melania Trump's spokeswoman went after rapper T.I. Tuesday, whose most recent music video features a Trump lookalike dancing without clothes in a fake Oval Office."Like it or not, she is the first lady and this is the White House," Stephanie Grisham, Trump's communications director, told CNN in a statement. "It's disrespectful and disgusting to portray her this way simply because of politics. These kinds of vulgar attacks only further the divisiveness and bias in our country -- it needs to stop." 520

FLORIDA — Police say former Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins player Richie Incognito was involved in a disturbance at a Lifetime Gym in Boca Raton, Florida on Wednesday morning.Police said Incognito was involuntarily committed under Florida's Baker Act. The act allows officials to apprehend and order a mental evaluation of a person.Incognito reportedly threw a dumbbell at a man at the gym and that's why police were called, according to TMZ.com.Incognito played for the Buffalo last season. In the buildup to the draft, he took a restructured contract with the Bills, publicly fired his agent on Twitter after that deal was signed, and retired shortly after that. The Bills officially added him to the reserve/retired list on April 12.Once Organized Team Activities started around the league, Incognito -- according to ESPN -- wanted to make a return to the NFL, despite retiring from the league and team just one month prior. The Bills granted his reported wish, releasing him off the reserve/retired list on Monday. The move officially made Incognito an unrestricted free agent, able to be signed by any other team. Incognito played in Buffalo for three seasons. An NFL investigation found that when Incognito was with the Dolphins in 2013, he and two others engaged in persistent harassment directed at teammate Jonathan Martin.Earlier this year Martin was?charged with threatening?Incognito and former Dolphin Mike Pouncey as a result of a?post on his Instagram page showing a shotgun and ammo. 1547
Former FBI Director James Comey warned that if President Donald Trump ever tries to fire special counsel Robert Mueller, then it would be the President's "most serious attack yet on the rule of law," and said that "it's possible" the Russians could have information on Trump that could be used to compromise him.Comey also said Trump is "morally unfit to be president" and claimed there is "certainly some evidence of obstruction of justice" by Trump. The comments came during a wide-ranging, exclusive interview with ABC News chief anchor George Stephanopoulos. The media appearance is the first time Comey has sat for a televised interview since Trump fired him last year. It also kicks off a promotional tour that the former FBI director is embarking on to promote the release of his new book, "A Higher Loyalty." 823
For months, President Donald Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden have been crisscrossing the country soliciting votes. But there's been one swing state they won't be able to visit — outer space. Thanks to a special law passed in Texas in 1997, NASA astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS) are able to "vote while they float."Astronaut Kate Rubins became the latest NASA official to vote from the outer limits on Thursday. She even created a "voting booth" on the ISS to feel more at home.According to The Washington Post, astronaut John Blaha first raised concerns about an astronaut's extra-terrestrial right to vote in 1996, when he was aboard Russian space station Mir during that year's presidential election. 752
