But it's the weird wonderful backstory that is so unforgettable. Alicia D'Amico and Rowena Merritt were preparing their Temple Terrace, Florida, home for the arrival of a foster child.They were on a local Buy Nothing Project Facebook page giving away free items from their house when they saw something interesting.A daughter, whose father had recently died from COVID-19, was giving away his impressive collection of Halloween decorations.They didn't know Bob Moyer or his family, but Alicia and Rowena love Halloween.Fans of the macabre holiday have each other's backs."We wanted to be able to carry on Bob's tradition, and bring his items to our home," says D'Amico, who also bought some new goodies of her own."Oh, it's a lot," laughs Merritt at the now-massive display. MIAMI, Fla. — Miami-Dade County will have a countywide curfew as the surge of the coronavirus continues in Florida.Mayor Carlos Gimenez has signed the order for the curfew. Starting Friday, July 3, the county will have a 10 p.m. curfew until 6 a.m.Essential workers, first responders, hospital workers, food delivery services and media will be exempt from the curfew.Mayor Gimenez is also rolling back the reopening of entertainment facilities such as movie theaters, arcades, casinos (with the exception of tribal casinos), adult entertainment, concert houses, bowling alleys and other places that have recently had their plans approved by the county.That order will be signed later on Thursday.People who go to restaurants will have to keep their masks on while seated at the table. They will only be allowed to take the masks off only to eat and drink. Mayor Gimenez says if you are waiting for your meal, keep the masks on while you are having a conversation. Hospitals are also experiencing an uptick in patients, and medical professionals are seeing a rise in 18 to 34 year olds who are getting sick, Gimenez said.At this time, hospitals still have plenty of beds, but some are experiencing staffing shortages. A Southern Arizona school district is taking a creative approach to better sanitize the classroom daily.Santa Cruz Valley School District bought six Power Breezers that will disinfect a classroom in 20 minutes.Superintendent David Verdugo said the school district did this as a cost effective way to provide extra safety and security to students and staff.He said it will be used after school to clean empty classrooms, hallways and even school buses.Each unit costs about 4,500 dollars."This is an opportunity for them to look at a way to sanitize a room in a short period of time and utilize their staff but also be cost effective," Superintendent Verdugo said.He said the district is also requiring all students to wear masks, have their temperature checked, and social distance in and out of the classroom.Every classroom will only be at 50% capacity, meaning 15 desks per room, he said. In order to do this, the district came up with a hybrid approach to learning."There will be a group A and a group B," Superintendent Verdugo said. "The group A students will be on Monday. They will come to school, have their direct instruction and then they will be at home the next day. Then, group B will come to school, but they will still have some interaction that day with assignments and virtual opportunities."He said the district is planning on starting remote learning on August 3 and then the hybrid approach will being on August 31.
