Social media company TikTok says they plan on hiring around 10,000 people in the U.S. over the next three years, according to multiple outlets. The announcement comes after lawmakers and Trump administration officials have questioned the company’s data collection methods and threatened to ban TikTok.TikTok currently employs about 1,400 people in the U.S., a huge increase already over the 500 employees they had on January 1, 2020, according to Axios."These are good-paying jobs that will help us continue to build a fun and safe experience and protect our community's privacy," a TikTok spokesperson said in a statement provided to CNN. The jobs will range from customer service, to content moderation to engineering.TikTok is owned by ByteDance, which is based in Beijing. TikTok doesn’t operate in China, however ByteDance operates a similar app in China called Douyin.Several lawmakers, including Chuck Schumer, Tom Cotton and Josh Hawley have publicly said they worry TikTok user data could find its way to the Chinese government. CNN reports TikTok data from U.S. users is stored in the U.S. with a backup in Singapore.The House voted this week to ban the TikTok app on government devices. Now, this couple wants to make their wedding day just as special as their love story.It was while the two were getting to know each other they learned this love connection was meant to be. That’s because the couple was born on the same day, in the same hospital.“I went and asked my mom. And she was like why what’s wrong? Well, the girl I’m talking to has the same birthday as me. She goes, really? And I go yes. It’s weird,” said Sierra Molina’s fiancee Marcus Acuna. Then they were delivered by the same doctor.“So when our parents told us we were like oh that’s cool let’s pull out the birth certificate and we saw it on there,” said Bride to be Sierra Molina.“It was divinely a shock to find out that there is somebody out there that has the same birthday as me and lives in the same town as me for years as long as we’ve been here,” said Acuna.Their love continued to grow and on Christmas Day in December of 2019, the two got engaged.“When I realized I wanted to marry her, I was like you know, it’s something that I want to do and this makes me happy and she makes me happy,” said Acuna.Since their story is so special the wedding date they chose will be as well.“Now that we are going to have our wedding on our birthday on August 23rd when we turn 23 like that’s so special like this date whether it’s during corona or not we know we wanted to have this date,” said Molina.If you are second-guessing getting married during a pandemic, the couple has some advice for you.“Just do it. It’s not about how big it is or how small it is, if it’s in a backyard, ya know just anything. SORRENTO VALLEY, Calif. (KGTV) - A Marine veteran suffered major injuries after a wrong-way driver crashed into him on I-5 early Saturday morning.Friends have identified the victim as Luis Maldonado. He was transported to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. His service dog Jax, who was also in the car, was taken to an animal hospital and is expected to survive.The wrong-way driver died at the scene. California Highway Patrol suspects he was under the influence of alcohol. He has not been identified.Maldonado's friends have set up a GoFundMe account to help pay for the mounting medical costs.  622
