BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Red Sox has rehired Alex Cora as manager.The team decided about a week after Cora finished the one-year suspension handed down by Commissioner Rob Manfred for sign-stealing while he was the bench coach in Houston in 2017.The move returns him to the Boston dugout less than a year after the ballclub let him go because of his role in the Houston Astros cheating scandal.Major League Baseball said the Astros decoded pitch signs by using their video replay system. To alert the batter, members of the Astros would relay the information with a noise, which included banging a trash can.The Red Sox dismissed Cora in January.In April, after an investigation into the Red Sox, MLB stripped the Red Sox of their second-round pick in this year's amateur draft for breaking video rules in 2018. BOULDER, Colo. — The Boulder City Council has voted to approve a ban on so-called "assault" weapons, bump stocks and high-capacity magazines.The vote at Tuesday's city council meeting was unanimous.The most recent version of the ordinance defined "assault" weapons as “semi-automatic firearms designed with military features to allow rapid spray firing for the quick and efficient killing of humans.”Anyone who legally owns an assault-style weapon in Boulder before June 15 would be allowed to keep it under the new rules. BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah -- The Utah community is mourning the loss of one of its own, a U.S. Air Force pilot from the state who died during a routine training mission off the northern coast of England.1st Lt. Kenneth “Kage” Allen grew up in Box Elder County, but recently moved overseas where he was serving with the 48th Fighter Wing based in the U.K.He had been there for a little over three months when his plane crashed during the training mission.“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our airman and mourn with his family and his fellow reapers in the 493rd Fighter Squadron,” said Col. Will Marshall, Commander of the 48th Fighter Wing.Marshall said Allen was the assistant chief of weapons and tactics for the 493rd Fighter Squadron.On Monday morning, Allen was flying a F-15C Eagle at about 9:40 a.m. when the aircraft crashed into the North Sea.“The outpouring of love and respect from our communities has been a ray of light in this time of darkness,” said Marshall.Allen's death comes just one day after his 27th birthday, and just one week after he recorded himself singing “Time in a Bottle” for his new bride.“Oh my sweetheart Kage,” wrote Hannah Allen on Facebook. “I think I could fill an ocean with the tears I’ve cried today.”The couple were married on Feb. 20, right before Allen joined the 48th Fighter Wing.Family members wrote on Facebook that Lt. (KGTV) - A City of Chula Vista spokesman said the city does not have any immediate plans to redevelop the Chula Vista Municipal Golf Course despite a report that showed roughly 2,700 homes built on the Bonita-area course.“For anybody to want to take it away, it’s hurtful,” exclaimed Bonita resident Xochitl Rouston.A report called “Redevelopment of the Chula Vista Municipal Golf Course” was shared on a Bonita Facebook group by a member who found the report online. The report outlines options to redevelop the area currently occupied by the course and parts of Rohr Park, which is in Chula Vista but borders Bonita.“Where are we going to take the kids?  Where are we going to go walking?  Where are we going to have our parties?” questioned Rouston who has lived in Bonita for more than 40 years.A Chula Vista spokesman told 10News the city completed a study in 2015 that said revenue at the course was declining and it wasn’t generating enough revenue to refurbish the course.  The report in question was issued so the city could “know what our options are should the golf course not be able to generate a return and pay for itself.” The spokesman emphasized the city is in the very early stages and there is no timeline for any projects.“We’re just trying to raise awareness, get everybody together,” said Rouston, who said they were surprised to learn any redevelopment was being considered.The Chula Vista spokesman said the Bonita residents would be notified of any discussions or meetings pertaining to the golf course or Rohr Park. 1594
