American versions tend to be hoppier, while British version tend to be maltier.IPA (India Pale Ale)An Indian Pale Ale is generally a herbal, citric beer with a hoppy bitterness. These beers can range in color from golden brown to a reddish amber and can also range in flavors to include fruity notes or more floral hints.Double IPAThe Double IPA is often referred to as an American IPA on steroids. Those tastes of an IPA are amplified and stronger than their single IPA relatives. The style, credited as West Coast-style IPAs, are generally very hoppy to the taste.StoutAmerican stouts are inspired by traditional English-style stouts, with a balanced and generally heavy taste. Many U.S. brewers commonly add coffee and chocolate to compliment the roasted malt flavors and the trend of aging stouts in bourbon or whiskey barrels has also taken off.For more about your favorite styles, beer website Beer Advocate has a lengthy list of styles and what makes them each unique. At Stone in Escondido...Stone Brewery has developed a reputation as one of the area's top breweries. Its Escondido brewery and bistro is evidence of that - sporting rotating taps of the brewery's latest creations and favorite brews.RELATED: 10 days of events on tap for San Diego Beer WeekThe brewery has taken those beers and crafted up a menu to compete with taste buds, with options available for the entire family. As always, a designated driver or ride sharing is encouraged when visiting the brewery. (KGTV) — Attorneys who challenged the use of Sharpies to complete election ballots in Phoenix are dismissing their lawsuit, according to the Associated Press.Roopali Desai, an attorney for Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, told the AP she was notified Saturday that lawyers who filed the lawsuit are ending their case. The lawsuit stemmed from allegations that election equipment was not able to record a voter's ballot because she used a Sharpie to complete it. Arizona election officials have said that voting with a Sharpie doesn't invalidate ballots.RELATED: San Diego Registrar of Voters: Using a Sharpie does not disqualify a ballotThe AP said no reason was immediately given as to why the lawyers dismissed their case.Election officials in Arizona and San Diego have said that ballots filled out with a Sharpie can still be counted. Even if the ink bleeds through a ballot, the ink won't mark another contest and cancel out votes on the other side, officials say."Regardless, using a Sharpie does not invalidate the ballot. Our voting system prevents a situation where if a voter uses a Sharpie to vote and it bleeds through to the other side, it will not impact any 'bubbles' on the opposite side," the San Diego Registrar of Voters said on Thursday.RELATED: 'Sharpie ballots' have the attention of a Trump campaign hoping to flip ArizonaArizona election officials told the AP that there is also a process that keeps the ballots from being canceled out if problems arise. The Associated Press contributed to this report. 1540

(CNS AND KGTV) - Services for Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year that starts a 10-day period of repentance and contemplation, will be held Monday in San Diego. Rosh Hashana began at sundown Sunday. Services marking the arrival of the year 5780 on the Hebrew calendar feature the blowing of the shofar, a ram's horn mentioned in the Torah and used by ancient Jews in religious ceremonies and as a call to arms and now used at Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur. Rosh Hashana is a time when Jews gather with family members and their communities to reflect on the past year and the one beginning. Celebrants also eat festive meals featuring apples dipped in honey, symbolic of the wishes for a sweet year. Rosh Hashana begins a period of contemplation and repentance culminating in Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, Judaism's most solemn and somber day. During the High Holy Days, Jewish tradition holds that God records the fate of each person for the coming year in the Book of Life, which is sealed at the end of Yom Kippur. The Jewish Federation of San Diego has more information about services here. 1101
