BEIJING, April 2 (Xinhua) -- Leaders of seven countries have confirmed their participation in the opening ceremony of Boao Forum for Asia's 2010 meeting in south China's Hainan Province on April 10, Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said Friday.The leaders are: Lao President Choummaly Saygnasone, Danish Prime Minister Lars Loekke Rasmussen, Mongolian Prime Minister Sukhbaataryn Batbold, Iranian First Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi, Afghan Vice President Mohammad Karim Khalili, Timor-Leste's Vice President Jose Luis Guterres and Cambodian Senior Minister and Minister of Planning Chhay Than.Qin said Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping will meet the foreign leaders on the sidelines of the forum.The forum, which will focus on Asia's green and sustainable development in the wake of global economic downturn, is to be held in Boao, a coastal resort in Hainan, from April 9 to 11.Danish Prime Minister Lars Loekke Rasmussen will also pay a working visit to China as guest of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, Qin said.

BEIJING, March 26 (Xinhua) -- China's health authorities stressed Friday a ban of hepatitis B tests for college admission and employment, saying checks, if necessary due to occupational requirements, are subjected to the Health Ministry's approval.A notice of the ministry reiterated that health institutions are not allowed to give hepatitis B virus (HBV) tests in health checks carried out for college admission and job recruitment, a policy introduced in February to prevent discrimination on HBV carriers.If candidates' liver functions must be tested to qualify special job posts, the checks must get approval from the Health Ministry, the notice said.The notice also said health institutions cannot provide HBV tests in regular health checks unless at the request of testers, in which case reports must be sealed and handed directly to testers or someone they entrust.Clinical tests must seek consent from patients and their privacy should be respected, according to the notice.Previously, an HBV test was a must on the health check list for college admission and job recruitment, and carriers were usually denied the opportunities, which caused complaints of discrimination and calls for a ban of such tests.The World Health Organization says HBV is transmitted from mother to child, through unsafe injections practices, blood transfusions or sexual contacts, and it cannot be transmitted through casual contact.

PYONGYANG, May 9 (Xinhua) -- The Rodong Sinmun, a leading newspaper of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), hailed the recent successful visit to China by top leader Kim Jong Il in an editorial published Sunday.The editorial said that the people of the DPRK are "very glad and excited" about the visit. It is a "meaningful opportunity" to strengthen the friendship between the two parties and the leaders of the two countries.The article also indicated that the DPRK will make efforts to further strengthen the traditional DPRK-China friendship.Both countries shared the view that peace, stability and prosperity of the Korean Peninsula are in the common interests of the two countries and other Northeastern Asian nations, the editorial said.The two sides will make joint efforts to achieve the objective of denuclearizing the Peninsula on the basis of the Sept. 19 Joint Statement, it added.The editorial also said that the people of the DPRK sincerely wish the Chinese people still greater achievements in their socialist construction and the cause for national reunification.Kim Jong Il made an unofficial visit to China from May 3 to 7. BEIJING, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Tao Dayong, a well-known Chinese economist and also honorary vice chairman of the ninth Central Committee of China Democratic League (CDL), has died of illness at the age of 93.President Hu Jintao, Premier Wen Jiabao and other senior leaders, including Jia Qinglin, Li Changchun, Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang and Zhou Yongkang, expressed their condolences.Tao, a native of Shanghai, graduated in 1940 from the Department of Economics of the Nanjing-based Central University.He joined the China Democratic League in 1947 and became chief editor of the Economic Weekly, a magazine published by the Hong Kong-based Chinese language newspaper Wen Wei Po in 1949.Tao was a member of the sixth, seventh, and eighth National People's Congress Standing Committee and a member of the Standing Committee of the Sixth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
