(KGTV) - Two NFL billionaires are reportedly at odds over -- what else -- money.According to a report, Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke is upset about a lack of financial contribution by the Los Angeles Chargers for their shared Inglewood stadium, which is set to open next summer. Longtime Los Angeles sportscaster Fred Roggin said Kroenke was anticipating the Chargers would generate close to 0 million from the sale of Personal Seat Licenses (PSLs). Instead, the real figure is turning out to be tens or even hundreds of millions short of the target, and Kroenke is the one responsible for making up the difference.Costs for the Inglewood stadium, which will be called SoFi Stadium after a sponsorship deal was announced earlier this month, are skyrocketing to almost billion. The facility was initially expected to cost .9 billion. Kroenke is responsible for everything but the money the Chargers generate in PSL sales and a 0 million NFL G-6 loan. The Chargers, though, get to keep all of their gameday revenues when they play in the new building. Roggin calls it a sweetheart deal for Chargers owner Dean Spanos. Speaking on his radio program on AM 570 in L.A., Roggin said the Chargers "are under no obligation to do anything but give the PSL money" and there's "nothing in writing about how much it should be."Sources tell Roggin that Kroenke has very little way of recouping the money from Spanos, because it was all part of the original deal allowing the Chargers to move from San Diego to Los Angeles. 1536

(CNN) -- Teen clothing retailer Forever 21 is preparing for a potential bankruptcy filing, according to several published reports.Forever 21, which is privately held, has more than 800 stores in 57 countries. And while many retailers have been paring back their network of stores in recent years, Forever 21 was adding stores as recently as 2016. It still has as many stores as it reported at that time. The ability to get out of leases and close stores at a lower cost is one of the advantages that the bankruptcy process affords to retailers. The company did not respond to requests for comment.Traditional brick-and-mortar retailers that specialize in selling clothes to teens and young adults have had a particularly hard time in recent years as younger buyers shift from mall visits to online purchases.Among the retailers in the segment that filed for bankruptcy and closed all their stores during the last five years are Wet Seal, American Apparel and Delia's. Aeropostale also filed for bankruptcy in 2016 but has kept some of its stores open. Many retailers have run into trouble due to being purchased by private equity firms or hedge funds. But Forever 21 is still owned by its founders, Do Won and Jin Sook Chang. A husband and wife team, the Changs immigrated from South Korea in 1981 and started the chain three years later with a single 900 square-foot store in Los Angeles and only ,000 in savings.Forbes lists the couple as having a net worth of .5 billion, and the privately-held company itself as having annual sales of .4 billion and 30,000 employees.Bloomberg reported in June that some members of Forever 21 management had asked some of its landlords to take a stake in the company as a way of coming up with funds it needs.Mall owner Simon Property Group, for which Forever 21 is a major tenant, took a stake in Aeropostale during its bankruptcy process. In July Simon Property CEO David Simon told investors it was open to working with other tenants facing trouble, without mentioning any by name."We'll work together on other distressed situations, and let's face it, there are some out there," Simon said. "But we're only going to buy into companies that, we think, have brands and that the volume that is worth doing it."But Bloomberg reported Thursday that Do Won Chang has been trying to maintain control of the company in any restructuring, and that his desire to do so has limited the company's ability to find funds it needs. 2469

(KGTV) -- A San Diego woman posted video online Tuesday after she spotted a bobcat roaming through her backyard. Radhika Vidya Chari lives in 4S Ranch, not far from the intersection of Camino San Bernardo and Fox Valley Drive. She says she was picking fruit from her lemon tree when she turned around and saw the animal. “I spotted him when I went to get a lemon from the tree and turn around. I ran to get my phone but he had disappeared,” Chari said. After the sighting, Chari says she questioned herself.“I googled to make sure if [sic] what I had seen.”Later that day, Chari says she was chopping vegetables when something caught her eye outside the kitchen window.“Sure enough, it was a bobcat and I took the video,” she continued. Chari says she reported the sighting to the Department of Fish and Wildlife. The department told her to keep her pets indoors and to make loud noises to scare the animal away if she encountered a bobcat again. “I have never seen anything like this before even in the wild.” 1017

(KGTV) -- Billions of dollars could be at stake with Proposition 15.If passed, it would tax some commercial properties based on current market value instead of when it was bought. It could potentially bring in anywhere between .5 to .5 billion in new funding to local schools and governments, according to the Legislative Analyst’s Office.Brandon Foster is a small business owner in Oceanside. Even though he rents the space where his two gift shops are located, he is against Prop. 15.“We already have been told by our landlords, if that passes, they will be passing on that cost to us,” Foster said. “The landlords, a lot of them, have vacancies and things like that where they are struggling themselves. I understand why they need to pass that cost onto us.”The ad for No on Prop. 15 highlights a small business owner who said he had to close twice during the pandemic. The ad said Proposition 15 would raise “property taxes and rents on small business and they admit homeowners are next.”The change in property tax assessment would apply only to commercial or industrial properties valued at more than million. It would tax those properties at current market value rather than when it was bought.Residential and agricultural properties are not affected under Prop. 15.“They are very emotional, as ads are supposed to be,” said Lynn Reaser, chief economist at Pt. Loma Nazarene University. The ad has major funding from the California Business Roundtable, California Business Properties Association, and the California Taxpayers Association.“You would see a big effect especially on these older companies, not necessarily the big companies, but all companies that bought their properties some years ago,” Reaser said. “They could face more problems in terms of survival.”The ad lacks detail about time frame for Proposition 15, not making clear that it would take effect in 2022.While the ad said homeowners are next in line for property tax increases, Reaser said “no one knows” if that is actually true.“All the businesses, they’re all going to have to pass on the money, the expense, to somebody,” Foster said. 2131

(CNN) -- Police in Long Beach, California, are mourning a K9 officer that died apparently of heat-related causes in a department vehicle. The dog, Ozzy, was found by its handler when both were off-duty about 3:40 p.m. on August 14, the Long Beach Police Department said in a statement."This unfortunate incident was not intentional," the statement reads. "Preliminarily, we believe this was an accident and we are taking all the necessary steps to avoid this happening in the future."The department said its K9 vehicles have "fail/safe equipment that is meant to generate an alert," but it might not have been working, the statement said. The department statement said K9 handlers are checking their heat system controllers before every shift.A veterinarian examined Ozzy. "The preliminary results determined the cause of death to be heat related," the police statement said. The high temperature that day in Long Beach was 89 degrees, National Weather Service records show.Police did not identify Ozzy's handler."Our department is mourning Ozzy's loss as we would with any of our employees. Our K9's are an indispensable part of our department, and we will continue to view them as our partners."The Humane Society says it's never safe to leave pets locked in cars."It doesn't have to be that warm outside for a car to become dangerously hot inside," the organization's website says. "When it's 80 degrees Fahrenheit outside, the temperature inside your car can heat up to 99 degrees Fahrenheit within 10 minutes." 1521
