SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The Rock ’n’ Roll marathon returns to San Diego in June, bringing hundreds of athletes and music to city streets. The 5K event is scheduled for Saturday June 1, while the half-marathon and marathon will be held Sunday, June 2. Entry fees are , 2, and 2 respectively. The marathon course starts on Sixth Avenue near Balboa Park. It extends as far east as Kensington, and north to Mission Bay Park, with a finish in Little Italy. Runners can enjoy the sounds of bands along the course, and support from San Diego cheerleading groups. For those who don’t want to run, the Rock ’n’ Roll Marathon Health and Fitness Expo will take place Friday, May 31, and Saturday, June 1 at the San Diego Convention Center. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The U.S. Postal Service will dedicate the Sally Ride Forever stamp to America’s first woman in space.The first-day-of-issue dedication ceremony will take place Wednesday at the University of California San Diego, where Dr. Sally Ride taught.After the ceremony, Sally Ride Science at UC San Diego will honor her with a 6:30 p.m. panel discussion on women in leadership.Ride dazzled the nation as a trailblazing astronaut, brilliant scientist, and dedicated educator.Her journey to space began in 1977 while she was finishing her Ph.D. in physics at Stanford University. She saw an article in the student newspaper saying NASA was seeking astronaut candidates, and for the first time, women were allowed to apply.Five years later, Ride became the first American woman to reach space when she launched in the Challenger for a six-day expedition.She was 32 at the time, making her the youngest American to go to space.After retiring from NASA in 1989, she took a job as a physics professor at UC San Diego and became the director of the university’s California Space Institute.Ride used her experiences in space to explain difficult physics concepts to her students.In 2001, she co-founded Sally Ride Science, a company dedicated to fostering interest in STEM fields among children, especially girls.Ride was honored for her contributions to science and space exploration with the NASA Space Flight Medal and the NCAA's Theodore Roosevelt Award. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – The two brothers convicted of killing their parents at their Beverly Hills mansion have been reunited in prison, according to the Associated Press.A spokesperson for the corrections department says 47-year-old Erik Menendez has moved into the same housing unit as his 50-year-old brother, Lyle Menendez.Both brothers are serving life sentences for shooting and killing their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez, in 1989.Officials say Lyle was moved from Mule Creek State Prison to San Diego’s R.J. Donovan Correctional Facility in February, where his brother has been held in a separate unit since 2013. Wednesday, Erik moved into the same facility, where inmates interact in rehabilitation programs. The brothers can now spend time together during meal time and recreational periods. Each of the brothers has served time at three other state prisons. The brothers claim the murders happened after they were sexually abused by their father. Prosecutors said during the trial that the brothers wanted their parents’ multimillion-dollar estate. 1091
