SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - HazMat teams responded to a fire station in North Park after a suspicious package was found outside the station, according to a San Diego Fire-Rescue official.Fire crews found the package by Station 14's front door around 3:20 p.m. Sunday when they returned from a call.Fire officials told 10News the package was a taped-up cardboard box with writing on it that made it appear dangerous. Some of the words were misspelled.The hazmat and bomb personnel set up a perimeter around the station, blocking off 32nd Street and Lincoln Avenue by about a block in each direction.The bomb squad x-rayed the package, determined that it was not dangerous, and reopened the street around 5:45 p.m.The package was filled with aluminum flux and trash, according to a tweet from San Diego Fire-Rescue.At about 3p on Sunday someone left this box at SDFD North Park station on 32nd St. The bomb team was called to ID the contents - aluminum flux and some trash. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Despite closing their cafeteria, Serving Seniors has begun offering to-go and delivery meals to seniors in need.At their location at 1525 4th Ave, they are distributing breakfast and lunch to anyone over 60-years-old, with a focus on low-income and homeless seniors.They are also doing home deliveries for those who are under the "self-isolation" request by the state.To request a delivery, call 619-235-6572.The county is also coordinating resources and can answer all non-emergency requests by calling 2-1-1. 537

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — For the fourth consecutive year, the USS Champion has won a contest held between ships at Naval Base San Diego over which crew could put together the best decorations."It's just a great opportunity for the crew to really come together, enjoy some time not focusing on the day to day, but to really express themselves," said the ship's commanding officer, Lt. Commander Matthew Yokeley.The Champion, an Avenger-Class Minesweeper, was covered in decorations. Lights, bows, and bells lined the railings and were struck all the way to the top of the mast. Giant inflatables were mounted on the deck, along with a Christmas tree. The lights were synchronized to flash with a holiday music show.This is a big deal for us.
