SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Fans packed the SDCCU Stadium for the Navy Notre Dame game, the focus for San Diegans revolving not on the friendly rivalry but the fight over what will happen to the landmark."This game is a big game and could be the last game here," Darren Hopkins, 13, said sitting next to his dad in the first row.Saturday night was the ninety-second game between Navy and Notre Dame and the crowd was very supportive of both sides."My dad's in the Navy but we're also big Notre Dame fans, so we're kinda split between," Darren said.The stadium hosted it's first football game in 1967, and fans tell 10News they love watching football here."It's good to see good football back in San Diego, I already miss the Chargers games and all the activities but it's really good to see there's some sports fans still here and they can fill the stadium it's really nice," Dan Hopkins said."A lot of energy here a lot of history here really wish the chargers were still in town but they're not, voting on Soccer City in November," San Diego local Kyle Uminger said.Both measures on the ballot call for a new stadium, either for San Diego State, or a soccer expansion team.Fans wish there was another option."I think that there's still so much spirit left in San Diego for a sports team, especially football, the entire stadium is filled up and it's just super loud and everyone is excited," Darren said.The vote will happen November 6th, 2018. 1480

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Fixing San Diego’s streets was one of Mayor Kevin Faulconer’s top priorities when he took office, and now he believes they’re on schedule to reach his goal of repairing more than 3,000 miles of roads.About a decade ago, it took crews an entire year to get about 24 miles of street repairs done in the city. Now, crews are averaging 25 miles of street repair a month.Kris McFadden, director of San Diego’s Transportation & Storm Water Department, said the pandemic helped them get the work done without causing much backups on the roads.“We staggered working times, people coming in different times. So, we were able to do a lot of repairs, especially when people weren’t driving on the roads,” said McFadden.Faulconer said, “When I ran for mayor, there was no issue that San Diegans complained about more than streets, so we have been on a mission over the past six years to bring smooth streets to neighborhoods across the city. We overhauled the repair program to speed up fixes, made record investments in street repair, and are on pace to fix half of all City streets by the end of the year. The robust program we now have in place fixes hundreds of miles annually and I strongly encourage the next Mayor to keep the pedal to the metal until every San Diegan can experience a freshly paved street outside their front door.”In a news release, city officials said crews “completed repair work on some of the City’s busiest streets including completing repairs to North Harbor Drive, Fairmont Avenue, Montezuma Road, and a network of streets in Mission Bay that have not seen a major facelift in nearly two decades. Construction on Scripps Poway Parkway is underway and anticipated to be completed in December.”Even though the city is on track to repave half of the its entire street network by the end of the year, City Councilmember Vivian Moreno said there’s more work that needs to be done, specifically on dirt and gravel roads in neighborhoods like Stockton.Moreno sent ABC 10News a statement that read, in part: “These dirt streets are vestiges of the past maintained by policies that are over six decades old.”The city says they’re looking at this request, but the plan is to finish the repairs that have already been scheduled to meet the goal by the end of the year. 2308

The raspberries were also used in yogurt parfaits served during breakfasts in cafeterias in the Escondido Union School District from Sept. 5 to Oct. 31.The recalled products are: (Aldi) Season’s Choice Raspberries (frozen) 12-ounce bags with “best by” dates of June, 10, 2021, August 1, 2021, and August 23, 2021. The UPC code is 0 41498 12419 9 and the lot codes are 20161A, 20213A, and 20235A.(Aldi) Season’s Choice Berry Medley (frozen) 16-ounce bags with “best by” dates of July 17, 2021, July 20, 2021, and July 22, 2021. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Hundreds of protesters gathered in Balboa Park Monday evening, the third day of protests in the San Diego region. A large group began coalescing near the San Diego Police Department headquarters near Broadway and 13th St in the afternoon. As night fell, the group marched up Park Boulevard past San Diego City College and into Balboa Park. Law enforcement officers followed closely. Freeway on-ramps and off-ramp were blocked by CHP officers in tactical gear along the route, preventing protesters from accessing the freeways. After marching through the park, the group stopped near El Prado and Sixth Ave. Many in the group laid down on their stomachs with their arms behind their backs, chanting “I can’t breathe,” in honor of George Floyd, the unarmed black man killed in police custody in Minnesota on May 25, 2020. Afterwards, they held a moment of silence for those killed at the hands of police. Many demonstrators dispersed after, though a group began forming again outside SDPD headquarters. At 10:25, SDPD tweeted that “bottles, fireworks and other objects” were being thrown at officers near their headquarters. Several minutes later, police declared the protest an unlawful assembly and began clearing the area, tweeting, “those who remain or return against this lawful order may be cited/arrested and risk exposure to chemical agents & less-lethal force applications.” As of 11 p.m. SDPD had announced they made one arrest for vandalism. 1481
