NASA and SpaceX are preparing for a historic launch Sunday and a Cal Poly graduate will be at the controls in the cockpit. Victor Glover will pilot the NASA SpaceX Crew 1 mission to the International Space Station. The Southern California native and 1999 Cal Poly engineering graduate often sought advice during college, and still does today, from his professor and academic advisor Dr. Dan Walsh. "Victor was very intelligent. Victor understood that the best long term plan is a series of very excellent short term plans," Dr. Walsh told KSBY. "My goodness, where he is now sort of speaks for itself." Glover came to Cal Poly in 1994 on a wrestling scholarship. During his junior year, he was a walk-on for the Cal Poly football team and says athletics has always played a key role in his life. (KGTV) - A mother took on the mission to organize donations for Americans evacuated from China, amid coronavirus concerns.Erin Dockery, wife of Commanding Officer of MCAS Miramar Charles Dockery, never thought in a million years that 240 evacuees would be in quarantine on base. But as soon as they came, she recognized they had a lot in common."We are a community that is familiar with loss, with heartache, with anxiety," Dockery said.RELATED: Second group of coronavirus evacuees released from quarantine at MCAS MiramarShe wasted no time jumping in to help, asking her husband for a point of contact and meeting with Health and Human Services Representatives to ask what they need."My original question was can we send letters, and then it grew to monstrous proportions," Dockery said. She got a list of needs, and put out the call on two military spouse Facebook pages. I was like, 'can you take pictures?' Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett says he’s concerned after seeing video of police using a stunning and arresting?a Milwaukee Bucks player Sterling Brown.The video is expected to be released soon, possible later this week. Police are reportedly bracing for backlash from the release of that video. This incident took place on the south side of Milwaukee in January. Police were called to a Walgreens because Brown was illegally parked across two handicap spaces. The officers say they tried to talk to Brown but had to deploy their stun guns to arrest him. Since that time, the arrest has been the subject of a police internal investigation."I have some of the same concerns that the chief has expressed over the video. I'm going to let the release of that speak for itself, but yes, I definitely have concerns after watching that video,” Barrett said. The mayor indicated that Police Chief Alfonso Morales had a similar reaction after seeing the video. Brown was not charged in the incident.
