SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The purple most restrictive tier for coronavirus guidelines goes into effect Saturday forcing many museums around San Diego County to close their doors once again."It really wasn't a surprise and when this all first started happening I think we realized that there wasn't going to be a magic date that everything was going to be better," James Haddan, Senior Director of Development and External Communications at the Museum of Us, said they've been anticipating the county's fall back into the purple tier."We made some hard choices initially, right away," Haddan said they made difficult cuts to staff at the beginning of the pandemic, hoping to sustain for the next two years."It has been extremely difficult for arts and cultural organizations throughout the city and Balboa Park would be no different," Executive Director of the Balboa Park Cultural Partnership Peter Comiskey said.Comiskey said while many of the museums must close, there are still things to do at the park. The Japanese Friendship Garden, Spanish Village, and restaurants are open.In La Jolla, the Birch Aquarium is shifting too. They reopened in July and are creating as many exhibits as they can outside. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Thirty roosters abandoned last month are in need of a new home.The roosters were left at an Escondido feed store on Dec. 28, 2019, with a note from the owner explaining they could no longer take care of them, the San Diego Humane Society says.SDHS says the roosters all appear to be healthy and social with each other and humans.Anyone interested in adopting the roosters can do so through SDHS' Escondido campus. Officials advise potential new owners to check with their city to make sure they are allowed to have a rooster, as some city ordinances prohibit the animals.Anyone who is unable to care for their pets are also advised to take them to a SDHS campus rather than abandoning them. SDHS is an open shelter and will never turn an animal away. 777

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The San Diego Police Department is looking for 72-year-old Dania Josefina Lopez, a woman who is believed to be missing and at-risk. Lopez was last seen by her family at 9 a.m. on Monday and has not been heard from since. Family members said Lopez suffers from dementia and has high blood pressure. She did not take her medication with her when she left home in San Diego's South Bay area. Lopez is described as 5'2", 150 lbs with brown eyes and gray hair. She was last seen wearing black pants, dark shirt and a brown vest. If you have any information, contact the San Diego Police Department.    674

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – The San Diego Padres have acquired Mike Clevinger from the Cleveland Indians, who is considered by many baseball analysts as one of the top starting pitchers in the league.According to MLB Network’s Ken Rosenthal, the Padres acquired Clevinger, Greg Allen, and a player to be named later for a package that includes three major league players -- catcher Austin Hedges, pitcher Cal Quantrill and OF/1B Josh Naylor -- and minor league prospects pitcher Joey Cantillo, SS Gabriel Arias, IF Owen Miller.Clevinger, 29, is 1-1 on the season with a 3.18 earned run average.Allen, 27, is a switch-hitting outfielder who grew up in San Diego. A San Diego security expert shows us how surveillance cameras are getting smaller, cheaper and harder to spot.Joe Oregon is a San Diego cyber security expert who also teaches at San Diego State University. He knows how simple it is to plant and conceal hidden cameras and tells us, “You want to make sure that you're closely inspecting the room or the location you're going to.” “I cringe thinking about it just as a citizen and as a father, you know. I have children, as well,” he adds.People’s worries over spy cameras have been increasing in the U.S. and internationally. A couple on vacation in Florida found themselves on-camera. At their short-term rental, they discovered a smoke detector with a hard drive in it, recording them in bed.A couple staying at a rental in Toronto was reportedly shocked to find a spy camera hidden in an alarm clock, pointed at the bed.Engineer Brandon Schamer specializes in micro-cameras. “They hide them in the smoke detectors. Sometimes people will actually tuck them under hidden spots where you wouldn't look like behind the TV,” he says. Schamer reveals that a spy camera can be hiding in an air conditioning vent, a plant, a stuffed animal, or even a spice rack. There are numerous possibilities.He says when you check into a rental unit, use the flash light on your phone’s camera to look around to see any reflections from tiny lenses. He explains that you can also check for infrared frequencies. “It’s totally invisible to the naked eye,” he adds. Your cell phone camera can detect infrared. Schamer explains that you should put your phone’s camera in “selfie-mode” and scan the room for a purple light which could indicate there's a transmitting camera. These days most cameras can be bought online. “They're not illegal devices so anyone can purchase them,” adds Oregon.Vacation rental sites like Airbnb and VRBO have strict rules about surveillance. Cameras are allowed in living rooms but they must be disclosed on the rental forms. They're not allowed in private areas like bedrooms or bathrooms. Oregon doesn't think you should descend into paranoia, but, he adds, “It's important to have a healthy dose of concern.” 2298
