SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The San Diego Padres Monday released their schedule for the 2020 60-game regular season.According to the Padres, the team will play 40 games against National League West rivals and 30 Interleague games against American League West.The team says it will open the season at home with a four-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks starting Opening Day, July 24.RELATED: San Diego Padres player tests positive for coronavirus as team begins Summer Camp at Petco Park“As part of Interleague play in 2020, the Texas Rangers (August 19-20), Houston Astros (August 21-23), Seattle Mariners (August 25-27) and Los Angeles Angels (September 22-23) will all make the trip to America’s Finest City. This will mark just the second appearance at Petco Park for the Astros since joining the American League and the third visit to Petco Park for the Angels,” the team said.“For Interleague road contests, the Padres will visit Texas (August 17-18), Los Angeles (September 1-2), Oakland (September 4-6) and Seattle (September 18-20). The club’s visit to Texas’ Globe Life Field will be its first to the brand-new ballpark.”Three of the team’s four home weekends will be against National League West opponents, including a total of two weekend series against the Diamondbacks and one against the Giants. The Astros will round out the home weekend schedule.This year on Labor Day, the Padres will host the Rockies. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Threats from President Donald Trump to move forward with ICE raids aren't stopping a Barrio Logan organization from patrolling the streets and alerting the community when agents are in their neighborhoods. Union Del Barrio is a 38-year-old organization. In the last year, they started the community patrols to warn neighbors of their rights, if ICE shows up at their door. Benjamin Prado is a member of Union Del Barrio. He says volunteers patrol in Logan Heights, Barrio Logan, Shelltown, City Heights and Linda Vista. Prado says they never interfere with the ICE agents doing their job, only document what they see. The organization is also training volunteers in other cities, including Los Angeles. Prado says they feel ICE shouldn't exist at all and that these patrols are to challenge the administration, trying to stop them from terrorizing and separating their families with deportations. On Saturday, Trump said the administration would move forward with ICE raids "fairly soon". Late Sunday afternoon, the president also tweeted in response to a New York Times article saying in part "people should not be entering the country illegally" while also praising the work of Border Patrol and others in law enforcement. Trump also insisted the wall is being built. So far, no word from the administration as to when the deportations will start. 1378

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The San Diego County District Attorney’s office released Friday a detailed report and video evidence in the death of a woman arrested by San Diego Police. Aleah Jenkins, 24, was arrested Nov. 27 on an outstanding warrant for meth possession during a traffic stop in University City. The video released at a news conference Friday shows Jenkins vomiting in the back of a patrol car. The officer initially called for medical aid but it was called off because Jenkins said her illness was due to pregnancy. That was not true, according to District Attorney Summer Stephan. There were several points when Jenkins yelled and asked for help in the back of the patrol car. Officers took Jenkins to SDPD headquarters downtown, where she collapsed. Jenkins was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center and died Dec. 6. A spokesperson for the Jenkins family said San Diego Police could have prevented Jenkins’ death by getting her help when she said she didn’t feel well.The autopsy indicated Jenkins had PCP, THC, morphine, and meth in her system, but no injuries which would have caused her death. District Attorney Summer Stephan said at a news conference Friday that no charges would be filed against the officer who arrested Jenkins after a careful review of the evidence. "I looked at the fact that at the period of time where he didn't get a prompt response he pulled over he pulled over and physically looked at her,” Stephan said.
