SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – With testing of potential COVID-19 vaccines speeding up and clinical trials underway, there are some who say they won’t be getting one once a vaccine is in production.Gwen Strickland said her son experienced a severe reaction to a common vaccine."It was something that had never crossed my mind until I witnessed it,” Strickland told ABC 10News.When Strickland hears talk of a potential coronavirus vaccine, she's skeptical the benefits outweigh the risks.RELATED: San Diego clinic to begin trials of coronavirus vaccine"I'd want to see some really long-term data that could guarantee it before I'd be comfortable injecting it into my body or my family," she said.As the pandemic continues on, the race to create a reliable vaccine pushes forward. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Traffic was backed up throughout the day Monday in Clairemont after a crash involving several vehicles. The crash happened just before 1 p.m. on Balboa Avenue near Albertine Avenue. According to San Diego Police, a 59-year-old man driving west on Balboa Avenue hit a raised median and crossed into the eastbound lanes of traffic. Police say he then hit a Jeep Patriot, causing it to slam into a Honda Civic and a Jeep Cherokee. Police say the driver of the Jeep Patriot sustained a fractured femur and was taken to the hospital. Her passenger also complained of pain. No one else was injured. The 59-year-old driver of the Nissan Frontier was arrested for DUI drugs. 695

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - What looks like a fire zone on a busy Ocean Beach street is a fraud, the City of San Diego confirmed to 10News Wednesday. The red curb at Abbott Street and Santa Monica Avenue got the attention of neighbors. Diana Webster has lived in the community for 66 years and said people have been getting active with spray paint. “On Friday, five scooters were parked in there and on Saturday, somebody had painted black where all the scooters should be parked. Sounds like there is some suspicious activity with spray cans, I guess so,” Webster said. “I think it’s pretty crazy someone got away with it,” said a neighbor identified as Rodrigo. The city said illegal red curbing happens regularly in parking-dense areas and the best way to take care of it is to report it through their Get It Done app. If the paint looks different than a typical red curb, it’s likely illegal, the city said. 910

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Two San Diego brothers are renewing their push for a Holocaust memorial along the Embarcadero, but the Port of San Diego does not appear to be on board.Mark and Frank Powell, who are Jewish, want to install the memorial at Tuna Harbor, just steps from the U.S.S. Midway Museum and the popular Unconditional Surrender kissing statue. The monument depicts U.S. Soldiers liberating Nazi concentration camps at the end of World War II, with general Dwight D. Eisenhower looking on. The Powells are bringing the idea back to the Port in light of the recent Poway Chabad shooting and overall increase in anti-Semitic incidents. In 2017, the Powells had the finances lined up, and support from more than a dozen politicians. But the Port's Public Art committee rejected the proposal in an 8-0 vote. In a statement Friday, Port Chairman Gary Bonelli said there were a number of issues with the proposal."No one on the Committee questioned the importance of the proposed WWII Military Liberation Monument, but Committee members felt that this particular proposal neither inspired nor caused one to contemplate the subject matter," Bonelli said.
