(KGTV) - Customs and Border Protection closed three lanes of traffic heading into the United States from Mexico Tuesday morning.In a statement, CBP said it was “to install and pre-position port hardening infrastructure equipment in preparation for the migrant caravan.”One lane of traffic was also closed at the Otay Mesa port of entry.It comes as active-duty troops have been working to add barricades and fencing as part of “Operation Secure Line.”On Tuesday, troops could be seen moving barriers covered with barbed wire along the border, periodically closing the southbound lanes into Mexico.In their statement, CBP officials warned “persons traveling northbound to the U.S. anticipate possible increased wait times because of the lane closures.”Even before the lanes were closed, wait times of six to seven hours had been reported at peak times in the standard lanes. Part of that was due to traffic control by authorities on the Mexican side.Travel as a pedestrian, however, has not appeared to be affected.Rebecca Fodor walked across Tuesday night and said it only took a few minutes. She said she did notice armed troops in camouflage uniforms.“It didn’t really change anything. I think they were just watching for anything suspicious,” she said.The lane closures will remain in effect indefinitely. Scooter company Lime is recalling one of its models from every city after realizing it could break apart while in use. The company says the model occasionally breaks "when subject to repeated abuse."The scooters were manufactured by a Chinese company called Okai, according to a Washington Post interview with Lime representatives. The Washington Post said it could not get in touch with Okai for comment.Lime plans to decommission any Okai scooters in its fleets.Those who experience the breaking scooter are typically leaving them where they break, and it has been difficult for the company to tally how many have broken, the Washington Post reports.This recall follows one issued a couple months ago stating some Lime scooters could catch fire. That recall of 2,000 scooters said some have batteries that smoldered and sometimes caught fire.The recall had a small impact in Lime's west coast markets. 911

(AP) — An active-duty U.S. Air Force sergeant accused of killing a Northern California sheriff’s deputy in an ambush-style attack was a leader for a military base’s elite security force. Officials said Monday that Staff Sgt. Steven Carrillo was a team leader for the Phoenix Ravens that protects airfields at Travis Air Force Base. Carrillo has been arrested on suspicion of fatally shooting Santa Cruz sheriff’s sergeant Damon Gutzwiller on Saturday afternoon in Ben Lomond, an unincorporated area near Santa Cruz. Chuck Schumer plans to propose legislation decriminalizing marijuana, Vice News reported Thursday."I'll be introducing legislation to decriminalize marijuana at the federal level from one end of the country to the other," the New York Democrat told Vice News. "The legislation is long overdue."Schumer, the Senate minority leader, told Vice that he had "seen too many people's lives ruined because they had small amounts of marijuana and served time in jail much too long."He added that it was "the right thing to do."According to Vice News, the legislation will be introduced in the next week, and it will include taking marijuana off the Drug Enforcement Administration's controlled substance list.Schumer also told Vice News the legislation will "maintain federal authority to regulate marijuana advertising in the same way it does alcohol and tobacco." 874
