SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Another San Diego driver has come forward, after she got hit with a late fee despite paying her parking ticket early.In early November 2019, Pamela Moes parked on Thomas Avenue in Pacific Beach and went for a walk on the beach. She was parked in a street sweeping zone."A truck blocked the 'No Parking' sign when I parked, but it's no excuse. Last week 10News reported on a North Park driver named Stacy, who paid her fine early — a week after Moes paid hers — and also got hit with the same late fee. The city at that time blamed delays on processing with new equipment and "connectivity issues" at the Inglewood facility.Moes has since made a final payment for the late fee so she could be done with it.10News reached out to a city spokesperson about Moes' case, along with a list of questions about the overall issues and the number of people impacted. A spokesperson says they've begun looking into it and will release a response.The city released the following statements in the previous story: "Check payments are processed by a third party vendor located in Inglewood, Calif. The average processing time in calendar year 2019 was six days for payments mailed to the vendor. Recently, the vendor encountered delays due to the installation of new remittance processing equipment. The new equipment had connectivity issues which created a backlog of payments.Customers who reached out to the Office of the City Treasurer during the backlog were advised not to stop payment on their checks, the postmark date was considered the legal payment date. When the payments were processed, the postmark date would automatically roll back any late fees if assessed. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Data obtained by ABC 10News showed there were more than 150 complaints made to 211 involving a Pacific Beach gym’s violations of public health orders.The data regarding The Gym was compiled starting April 8; overall, there were more than 9,300 complaints from that time period involving violations of public health orders throughout San Diego County.Troy Kahle said he and his husband have been members of The Gym, located on 2949 Garnet Ave., for more than 20 years. Kahle is also a COVID-19 survivor, and he said he’s not sure how he contracted the virus.Kahle has not been to The Gym since he went to the hospital. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - At least one person is dead after a collision in Sorrento Valley early Saturday.A field of debris marked the site of the collision on northbound Interstate 5 at the I-805 connector. California Highway Patrol officers the crash included a white Toyota Tacoma and a red Honda.The driver of the Honda died at the scene. CHP officials said they believe that person was driving the wrong way and may have been under the influence of alcohol - multiple beer cans were found in the vehicle.The driver of the Toyota was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — As people continue to try to purchase essential items, the San Diego County District Attorney's Office says it's protecting consumers by going after retailers who are illegally price gouging."We have received well over 100 calls to our tip line," said Damon Mosler, the Chief of the Econcomic Crimes Division at the DA's Office.It's illegal for businesses to overcharge more than 10 percent for essential items during a state of emergency.RELATED: Unemployment benefits could take weeks amid coronavirus pandemicMosler said there are currently 70 reports under investigation."We are going to the store to verify the price and the item and we are serving them with a warning letter explaining what the law is, explaining what the violation is," he explained.After that the crews, who are undercover, will return to the reported store to do compliance checks and make sure the retailers are responsive to the warnings.RELATED: City Council puts stop on evictions during coronavirus pandemicAbout a dozen business owners have been warned in the county so far.
