A neo-Nazi couple who named their child after Adolf Hitler have been found guilty Monday of being part of a banned right-wing group in England.Adam Thomas, 22, and Claudia Patatas, 38, were convicted at Birmingham Crown Court in the country's West Midlands region for being members of the extreme right-wing organization, National Action. The group was banned in 2016.According to the UK's Press Association news agency, the court heard that the couple gave their child the middle name "Adolf" after Hitler, because of Thomas' "admiration" for him.Photos were also recovered from the couple's home that showed Thomas dressed in the white robes of the Ku Klux Klan while holding his son, according to PA.The jury were also shown a tattoo Patatas has, which reproduces an intricate floor design from inside a former SS headquarters at Wewelsburg Castle in Germany, PA said.The court heard how members of National Action had several methods to disguise their contact with each other and used closed encrypted messaging platforms to organize meetings to spread their ideology.The group was banned by the UK's former home secretary, Amber Rudd, after she called it "racist, anti-Semitic, and homophobic."Rudd added that it is an "organization which stirs up hatred, glorifies violence, and promotes a vile ideology, and I will not stand for it. It has absolutely no place in a Britain that works for everyone."The group was outlawed after it had celebrated the?murder of Labour Party member of Parliament Jo Cox.As part of the same trial, 27-year-old Daniel Bogunovic was also found guilty for being part of the group and three other men admitted they were members prior to the case, West Midlands Police said.The couple and the four other men will be sentenced in December, PA reported.Speaking after the verdict, the head of West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit, Matt Ward, said those convicted "were not simply racist fantasists.""We now know they were a dangerous, well-structured organization," he said in a statement on the West Midlands Police website."Their aim was to spread neo-Nazi ideology by provoking a race war in the UK and they had spent years acquiring the skills to carry this out. They had researched how to make explosives. They had gathered weapons ... Unchecked they would have inspired violence and spread hatred and fear across the West Midlands."Ward said that the convictions dealt a significant blow to National Action. A Valrico, Florida mom is sharing her experience on social media after she said she was asked asked to wait outside the Plant City DMV office with her infant daughter.Liz Gatley, a stay-at-home mother of three girls, said she was asked by a representative at the Plant City Tag Office to take her one-year-old daughter outside or come back another day. In a picture on Facebook you can see at least four young children, one in a stroller, and the mothers waiting outside the office. Gatley said her daughter, as well as the other children were not being disruptive and said she's a firm believer of taking them outside if they were. In the post, Gatley wrote, "I was so mad but I was also embarrassed and confused," she said. She went on to say, "for you to embarrass me and be extremely rude, unapologetic and not understanding the fact many moms are stay at home moms with little to no help, is what bothers me."Gatley said she and the mothers stood outside with no bench or air conditioning as they waited two hours to be seen at the office. At the end of the post she said, "if you have children, go to another location!"Doug Belden with the Hillsborough County Tax Collector's spoke with Tampa-based WFTS on Friday afternoon. A Memphis woman wants answers after getting a nearly ,000 dollar bill from Memphis Light, Gas and Water.Florence Ford said the utility insisted the astronomical amount is no mistake.They told her a water leak led to the 5-figure bill, but Ford doesn't think MLGW's story is adding up.The 60-year-old brings in just enough every month from disability checks to pay her rent and insurance costs."I had four blood clots, I’ve got nerve damage on the right side and I had a stroke," she said.So, when Ford opened up her bill late January for ,423, she was floored.Her normally bill had skyrocketed to ,995 for water alone, just for one month."What the hell? If I’m on a fixed income, how can I pay a ,000 water bill?" she said.Ford called MLGW and said she was told the massive bill was due to a water leak on her property, and that she’d need a plumber to fix it."Some pipe or something had come loose and they took care of it," she said.According to Ford's bill, her water usage during the month of December was 4,983 CCFs (centum cubic feet). That’s close to 4 million gallons, which is enough to fill an Olympic-sized swimming pool almost six times.MLGW told Ford a representative called her and left a note on her door, but she said before getting that bill, no one from the utility ever reached out to tell her there was a problem."Didn’t call, didn’t leave a voicemail, said they left a note on the door. No note on the door," she said.A friend and former lawyer told Ford it would be impossible not to realize that much water was leaking in front of her home."He said if I had a ,000 water bill, my house should have been floating down the street somewhere," she said.Ford said she spoke to someone at MLGW again, who suggested she file for bankruptcy.The next month she got another bill, leaving her owing nearly ,000, which is just a couple hundred dollars shy of what she brings in in an entire year."If I don’t pay that, they’re going to cut my utilities off, so I’m going to be without utilities," Ford said. "What am I supposed to do? Sit in the dark?"She's also on a breathing machine, which needs electricity to operate.MLGW agreed to credit Ford’s account ,980, but she says that’s not good enough."I think they should squash it. A train carrying dozens of Republican members of Congress, including House Speaker Paul Ryan, to their legislative retreat in West Virginia hit a truck on January 31, 2017 leaving one person dead.Wednesday the National Transportation Safety Board released a preliminary investigation into the crash.They said around 11:15 a.m., a 2018 Freightliner truck equipped with a McNeilus Truck & Manufacturing refuse body was traveling southbound on Lanetown Road in Albemarle County near Crozet, Virginia.The refuse truck, operated by Time Disposal LLC, had a 30-year-old driver and two passengers as it drove towards a highway–railroad grade crossing, later identified. The crossing is active and includes advance warning signs and pavement markings on its approach, the National Transportation Safety Board said. The crossing is also equipped with crossbuck signs, warning lights, bells and gates.As the truck neared the highway a westbound Congressional Special Amtrak train was approaching the highway–railroad grade crossing.The NTSB said the train’s lead locomotive was equipped with a forward-facing track image camera. Data that was taken from the camera showed that as the crossing came into view, the gates were down and the truck was on the grade crossing. Witnesses to the crash reported that the refuse truck entered the crossing after the gates were down.The train’s recorder showed the Amtrak train was traveling about 61 mph when the engineer applied emergency braking. The train struck the left rear of the refuse truck, causing the truck to rotate counterclockwise and then collide with a railroad signal next to the tracks. The refuse body separated from the truck, and the truck’s two passengers were ejected, according to the NTSB.As a result of the crash, one passenger in the truck died. The other truck passenger had serious injuries and the driver of the truck had minor injuries. Three Amtrak crewmembers and three train passengers sustained minor injuries, the NTSB said.NTSB investigators and Albemarle County Police Department officials and the Federal Bureau of Investigation documented the crash scene and the characteristics of the crossing, the train and the refuse truck. The track and operational characteristics of the crossing signals were also examined and documented.The crash remains under investigation.  2354
