KENOSHA, Wis. – The city of Kenosha, Wisconsin, is taking stock of the damage left in the wake of unrest following the shooting of Jacob Blake. As President Donald Trump made his first visit to Kenosha since the shooting Tuesday, small businesses were beginning to tally up the losses.“You ain’t touching my dojo. That’s a fact,” taekwondo student Shelley Meyer said during a live-stream on Facebook as she stood guard outside her dojo.“I’m getting scared. He says the damages are estimated in the tens of thousands.But down the block that night, another business was not so lucky.“The cars are just blowing up one by one,” Meyer said during her live stream.Like dominoes, the dealership’s cars detonated one tank at a time.Witnesses say the flames started in one car and quickly engulfed the entire lot. The owners estimate the losses in the millions.The inferno, which burned for hours, left more than 100 cars completely destroyed.For owners Sahil and Anmol Khindri, their American dream has turned into a nightmare.“We built this place up from the ground up. That office right there, as you can see, it's in ashes right now. It's done. It's gone,” said Anmol Khindri, co-owner of Car Source.Charred scraps, shattered glass and tires melted to the core are all that remain.“It's gonna cost us more money to remove this car off the lot than it's worth itself,” said Sahil Khindri.More than a week since the destruction, they’re still not sure how they will recover financially. A GoFundMe page has been set up. They’re hoping for some assistance though, it’s unclear whether their insurance will pay out at all.“We had nothing to do with it. And we were the ones who was getting penalized for this,” said Sahil Khindri.It’s a similar story up and down Kenosha’s business district.Boarded up storefronts are decorated with colorful messages of hope while masking the damage and loss.Back at the taekwondo academy, their judo coin symbol has been painted outside the boarded-up exterior. (KGTV) - After serving the beach communities of Pacific Beach and La Jolla for more than 60 years, Pernicano’s Family Restaurant will be closing.Johnny Pernicano Sr., the restaurant's enigmatic founder, still comes every night, singing to patrons with his piano and accordion.“I learned how to play all the instruments just by being here every night,” said Pernicano.He and his nine brothers began opening restaurants across San Diego after World War II. As the youngest son, he started off making pizzas in his older brother’s restaurant. But by the mid ’50s, he went off on his own to build the restaurant that’s now on Turquoise Street on the southern edge of La Jolla.Since then, it’s served as the reliable home for birthdays, reunions, fundraisers and family dinners across San Diego.It’s one of three surviving Pericano’s in the county. Two of his nephews, now in their 70's, operate locations in El Cajon and Poway. They will remain open for the foreseeable future.The location on Turquoise Street will have its last day on Sept. 15.Johnny says he has leased the space out to a new family who plans on opening a new restaurant at the location. 1186

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — John Schooley arrived in Wyandotte County Court wearing a black and white jail jump suit.It was a sharp contrast to his Schlitterbahn co-defendant Jeff Henry, who appeared in the same courtroom last week wearing a suit and tie.Schooley and Henry are the designers of the Verrückt water slide.The men are accused of being reckless in their design, and of knowing the slide was dangerous.Ten-year-old Caleb Schwab died on the water slide in 2016.Kansas City, Missouri, Attorney Justin Johnston argued Schooley's bond should be reduced from 0,000 to 0,000.He argued Schooley willingly turned himself in after arriving in Dallas from a business trip in China and isn't a flight risk.Johnston also said Schooley's wife and adult children live in the U.S., he has property in Texas and Alabama and retired from the Verrückt project in April 2015 with HSC Construction.Johnston also said he had letters of support for Schooley from people in the amusement park construction industryBut Wyandotte County Judge Robert Burns ruled against reducing the bond.Judge Burns said the bond was appropriate for the serious charges against Schooley and noted Schooley doesn't have any ties to the Kansas City metro area.Judge Burns also ordered Schooley to give up his passport, which he volunteered to do.As part of the bond, Schooley can't violate any laws.After the hearing, Johnston and Assistant Attorney General Adam Zentner declined comment on the bond ruling. 1517

Bush reminisced about the 41st president of the United States on Saturday after learning of Bush's passing.Mauri Sheer spent two years with the Bush family during his presidency before he was appointed as a U.S. Marshal in the Kansas City area. Sheer, who worked in the Secret Service for nearly three decades, served six presidents."From Gerald Ford through George W. Bush," Sheer said.But it was his time with George H.W. Bush, who died Friday night at his home in Texas, that he thought about most this weekend."He was constantly moving, and when he would move, he would move fast," Sheer said. "If you were working right ahead of him in the perimeter around him and you were right ahead of him, you'd have to be careful if you slowed down because he'd run you right over."Sheer said that same energy went into his golf game. "They say he played golf almost like you play hockey," Sheer said. "He'd hit the ball and the ball's almost done moving and he's just constantly moving."Sheer said the moment he'd never forget was the day Ronald Reagan was released from the hospital after he'd been shot. Sheer said he and Bush were running a 10-kilometer race that morning. "He didn't run as fast as he thought he was going to and he was pressed for time and he was behind and he was afraid he was going to miss it," Sheer said.As usual, Bush didn't miss a beat.Sheer said that's one thing he'll always remember. He also wanted others to know Bush was a fundamentally good person."The main thing that I think people should know about George H.W.
