"You feel this suppression, so Parler was born out of this thought where you can go and not be censored."This surge in popularity follows recent efforts by Twitter and Facebook flagging what they claim is misinformation on their platforms."As a lot of tweets and a lot of Facebook posts from Donald Trump and his allies and even his family have been flagged on Facebook and Twitter from containing false information and inaccurate information about voter fraud from the previous election," Andrew Selepak, a social media professor at the University of Florida, said. "So what we're looking at is a lot of people who want to discuss this, and discuss it freely without posts being flagged, banned and not being able to be shared."Selepak said Parler has a fraction of users compared to Twitter and Facebook, but he noted the growth can't be ignored."The number of accounts in the past week has now doubled and we're looking at about 8 million users, which is a pretty significant jump for a platform that has only been around for about two years," he said.Selepak said critics of the platform call it an "echo chamber.""We've seen posts by QAnon or the Proud Boys or the Bugaloo that have been taken down and their accounts have been blocked by other platforms like Facebook and Twitter, and they're now able to go on Parler and be able to discuss topics and kind of spread information and ideologies, and that is creating some danger," he said. "Is there not any way to regulate it or have somebody checking on the misinformation being spread?"Selepak believed the lack of disagreement will ultimately limit growth."It's about the debate, discussion," he said. "People want to win. Phoenix police say a young mother reported missing after her baby was?abandoned has been found dead. Police say the body of Jasmine Dunbar, 21, was found by police aircraft late Wednesday afternoon in the area of 107th Avenue and Camelback Road. Officials are awaiting official identification of the body through scientific analysis, but the body has been tentatively identified as Dunbar.The body had significant burn evidence.Dunbar was last seen with her ex-boyfriend Antwaun Travon Ware, 20, on Tuesday night.Family members told Scripps station KNXV in Phoenix she left home with Ware and her 7-month-old baby around 7:30 p.m. The infant was found alone in her car seat along the road near 83rd and Minnezona avenues around 10 p.m.Police located Ware at his home on Wednesday morning and he agreed to come to police headquarters for an interview.Due to evidence collected, police developed probable cause to arrest Ware on one count of first-degree murder, kidnapping, abandonment of a body and child abuse. PARADISE, Calif. (KGTV) - Dramatic body camera video recorded on the first day of Northern California's Camp Fire shows a Butte County Sheriff's deputy in what he thought would be the final moments of his life. BCSO Deputy Aaron Parmley was driving down Pentz Road in Paradise when his vehicle became disabled due to the firestorm. Parmley got out to run to safety.Fearing that he was about to die, Parmley switched on his body camera to document the situation the morning of Nov. 8.Video shows Parmley walking near a home and down the middle of a road with burning embers surrounding him. Other people, including a nurse and police officer, were walking nearby. Parmley's struggle to breathe in the heavy smoke is apparent.The life-saving moment happened roughly an hour and 14 minutes after Parmley turned on his camera. A bulldozer approached Parmley and the police officer, and both men got inside to be taken to safety.The Camp Fire went on to become the deadliest fire in California history, with 88 fatalities and 196 people missing as of Nov. 29. PALA MESA, Calif. (KGTV) -- A Temecula woman who stopped to help victims of a deadly bus crash in Pala Mesa on the I-15 freeway is hoping to connect with the family of the woman she comforted until she passed. Jacqueline Hernandez says she never thought twice about stopping to help the victims of the bus crash. She says it was pouring rain, but when she noticed what happened, she pulled over to ask how she could help. Hernandez says she joined other Good Samaritans that had pulled over to help. She says, she arrived just moments after the crash. The charter bus traveling from El Monte to Tijuana on the southbound 15 when it crashed. Three women were killed, 18 people were sent to local hospitals. Hernandez tells 10News she noticed a woman ejected from the bus and says two men started alternating CPR. She says she tried to keep the woman alert, speaking to her in Spanish and holding her face. Eventually paramedics told Hernandez the woman no longer had a pulse. While Hernandez tried to help the woman, her two children passed out blankets to the other victims that were injured.Hernandez wants the woman's family to know their loved one was not alone in her final moments. The California Highway Patrol is now helping Hernandez arrange a meeting with the woman's family. Hernandez is hoping to help them financially with funeral costs. The three victims were identified as ,23-year-old Cinthya Karely Rodriguez Banda, Maria De La Luz Diaz, 67 of Riverside, and Julia Perez Cornejo, 73. 1508
