Those in the United States on a student visa could be booted from the country this fall if they are not attending in-person classes, the US Immigration and Customers Enforcement agency announced Monday.At universities that are planning on going online only, students will need to transfer to a university with in-person classes or face being deported from the US. This also means at universities where students have the choice between online and in-person courses, they will need to mostly take in-person courses. This could be an issue for students considered at a high risk of developing complications from the coronavirus. Amid the coronavirus, most universities have stated plans to resume in the fall with in-person courses. But with cases surging around the country brings uncertainty on whether universities will be able to conduct in-person classes.On Monday, Harvard announced plans to hold online courses with limited in-person services. Harvard’s plan will allow for freshmen to live on campus while the rest of the university will mostly be kept away from Harvard.“Harvard was built for connection, not isolation. Without a vaccine or effective clinical treatments for the virus, we know that no choice that reopens the campus is without risk,” the president and deans wrote. “That said, we have worked closely with leading epidemiologists and medical experts to define an approach that we believe will protect the health and safety of our community, while also protecting our academic enterprise and providing students with the conditions they need to be successful academically.”Princeton also announced Monday that most of its courses will be held online. Princeton said it would work with international students who might not be allowed to enter the US due to visa restrictions.“For undergraduates living abroad who are unable to return to campus, there will be some limitations on which courses are available to students who are not in residence,” Princeton said in a press release. There’s been a significant bounce back in the U.S. job market, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ latest monthly unemployment report. In June, 4.8 million people were able to go back to work.Businesses in hospitality and leisure added 2.1 million jobs. Food services and drinking establishments added 1.5 million jobs, while retail saw 740,000 workers return to work.“The job market bounced back pretty strongly in June, but we have to keep everything into perspective,” said Ryan Sweet, an economist and Head of Monetary Policy and Research for Moody’s Analytics.Sweet says compared to where the U.S. was prior to the pandemic, jobs are still down by roughly 15 million.Economists, like Sweet, believe the job rebound seen in June is likely over, and the U.S. job market will likely reflect a lull in July.“The lull, it is unclear how long that will last,” Sweet said. “We are hoping until the end of this year.”As coronavirus cases continue to surge in the U.S., the hope for just a lull dwindles and worry about another decline in employment grows.Companies like United and American airlines are already signaling major job loss could come in the near future. Both companies recently reported they may have to each layoff 25,000 workers. Analysts predict if other airlines have to do the same, the industry could lose up to 250,000 jobs.That’s hundreds of thousands of potential jobs lost in just one industry, and many others are signaling a similar situation.“The ones that I am most nervous about are state and local governments because it seems that there is less urgency for lawmakers to pass fiscal stimulus,” said Sweet. “If we don’t get another round of fiscal stimulus, this lull is going to turn into a contraction.”Congress has been talking for two months about another stimulus package, but there is no clear signal that one will come in time. 1881

TIJUANA, Mexico (KGTV) - According to a Tijuana newspaper, a power outage over the course of last weekend at the Tijuana General Hospital led to the deaths of five patients who were on ventilators. Officials, though, deny it.On Wednesday, ABC10 News spoke media partner Televisa's anchor Estephania Báez about the report from newspaper Zeta. “What they got was interviews with doctors but they remained [anonymous]," said Báez.She said that state authorities and the hospital admitted there were five deaths but denied that they were caused by the outage and claimed that a backup generator kicked in but only at low voltage.Televisa is reporting that copper wire thieves are suspected of causing the loss of power. “The thieves that [steal] the copper from homes decided to do it to the General Hospital and I can’t even think about why they did this with knowing that patients are connected to ventilators,” added Báez.Tijuana's General Hospital has been hit hard since the start of the pandemic. There have been reports of a lack of beds and equipment. More recently, Báez said, there have been problems related to accessing cancer care. “They even had lots of families that have children with cancer protesting outside the hospital because they couldn't even get their treatment done,” she added.In part of a statement to ABC10 News, the hospital wrote that it categorically denies that the outage resulted in the death of any of its patients.ABC10 News reached out to the Joint Commission which oversees safety standards for hospitals in the United States to ask about power outage protocols. We were sent the following."The Joint Commission Emergency Management Standard EM.02.02.09 EP 5 requires that hospitals identify an alternative means for providing "fuel required for building operations, generators, and essential transport services that the hospital would typically provide." The facility should assess how it would be affected if outside emergency support could not be obtained for 96 hours. This does not mean that they need to have 96 hours’ worth of fuel on site. The plan could include memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with suppliers to replenish fuel as needed during the emergency period. Additionally, the plan could be to operate without normal branch of power to reduce fuel consumption, to extend run-time of the available fuel. If the generator is used as the backup power source for the life safety branch of the electrical system, the facility should have enough fuel to run the generator for a least 1-1/2 hours for as long as the building is occupied." 2592

(KGTV) -- After gunning down a group of workers standing at the door at Borderline Bar & Grill country music bar, Ian David Long paused a moment to post a chilling message on social media before resuming his killing spree."It's too bad I won't get to see all the illogical and pathetic reasons people will put in my mouth as to why I did it.
