SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Police are looking for a driver involved in a two-car crash that injured pedestrians Tuesday night.The crash happened at the corner of Sixth Avenue and Laurel Street near Balboa Park. One couple said they were headed to the Haunted Trail at Balboa Park and were waiting to cross the street when they saw two cars headed for them.“I just saw the headlights going towards me, and if I didn't dodge that car, I would have been pinned on that tree. When I fell on the floor I saw that car slam on that tree,” one of the pedestrians said.  Police say a white Toyota was headed south on Sixth Avenue and as it was crossing the intersection of Laurel Street, it was hit by a blue Honda that was making a left turn onto Sixth Avenue.  The driver of the Toyota stayed on scene, but police say the driver of the Honda took off.Officers did not have a very description of the driver, and it’s unclear if there were passengers in their car.  Police say three people were transported to the hospital. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Neighbors in Ocean Beach and Point Loma are hoping new surveillance video will help arson investigators find whomever is responsible for a series of fires over the weekend. The video was taken from a yard near one of the fires. It shows a man walking in and out of frame then moments later, neighbors say, another fire stared. The fires all happened early Saturday morning within hours and just miles of each other. Arson investigators are calling the fires suspicious , all of them started in people's backyards. San Diego Police tell 10News they're still working to find out if the fires are related and also looking at the surveillance video to find out if the man in the video is a suspect. Detectives ask that anyone else with video, turn it over to the department. 799

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - On Tuesday, San Diego beach parking lots, piers, and boardwalks reopened following their closures amid the pandemic. The reopening came in time for the heat wave.10News witnessed beachgoers from Pacific Beach to South Mission Beach who took advantage of the lifted restrictions.A heat advisory was in effect until 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Coastal highs were in the 80s and 90s."It was a lot of fun since we can’t get out that much," said Ashyton Malan who visited the beach on Tuesday with his family. Mother Jennifer Malan added, "People are far apart and not a lot of masks but there was nobody encroaching on anybody’s space so it was nice."The City reports that visitors are still required to practice social distancing with anyone outside of their household and they cannot congregate or participate in active sporting activities on the beaches. 871

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Naval Base Point Loma was locked down Thursday over reports of a suspicious person.In a Facebook post, the base said "all personnel onboard the installation are directed to seek shelter in the nearest building and activate lock down procedure" and remain inside until told otherwise. The lockdown was lifted just before 2 p.m. and Harbor Drive was reopened to traffic. The base told 10News that it appeared the caller believed to have seen a suspicious person, but the person in question was not believed to be a threat.The base added the Gateway Youth Center and Patrick Wade CDC had been taken off lockdown and parents allowed to pick up their children.10News is monitoring this breaking news. 722

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Parents rallied at Poway Unified District Headquarters during their monthly board meeting, asking them to pause on proposed plans to bring a Costco to land zoned to build a school.The vacant lot is at the corner of Camino Del Sur and Carmel Valley Road and was labeled a surplus by the Poway Unified School District.That means they don't need it and believe they have enough schools in the area.Parent Gianni Nguyen said that's not true, "in our particular area the schools are impacted, so no."Nguyen said she doesn't mind the idea of creating mixed use retail, restaurants and a Costco, but she was angered by the process the board went through to get the deal."I felt like we were just robbed... We just want to be part of that process, bring us to the table, give us a voice, let us share with you what our opinions are," she said.The board voted unanimously at their September meeting to pursue a long term lease with Costco, that spans decades. Nguyen said the community was blindsided."I have four kids in the public school district, four young kids, my oldest is only 12, so I am very passionate about this," she said looking away.She hopes the rally makes the board pause and reconsider moving forward on this deal.Nguyen added, "we're going to unite and say we do have a voice and there should be a choice and you guys should be in there to represent us and if you're not representing us, who are you representing?"The deal was not on the agenda Thursday. 1493
