(KGTV) - Surveillance video captured intruders surprised by an alarm during a burglary in Spring Valley Wednesday night.The break-in unfolded in Eva Bradley's home off Paradise Valley Road while she was at work. "I'm sad, upset and angry." said Bradley.Just before 11 p.m., a guest bedroom window was forced open. A surveillance camera was rolling in the bedroom of Bradley's 8-year-old son, who was not home. "Scary, scary. Just glad we weren't home. Such as violation," said Bradley.In the video, a person is seen shining a flashlight in the dark. He leaves and another intruder, wearing a hoodie, enter the room and opens a drawer. Moments later, the camera is struck and falls over. Soon after in the living room, the burglar with the flashlight - now toting a bag - is sneaking through the room before he triggers the motion sensor and the alarm. He and another figure then run out of the room.The break-in was cut short, but the thieves made off with iPads and jewelry, including a gold and diamond-shaped ruby ring which Bradley's grandmother wore every day before she died."I didn't get a chance to say goodbye before she passed away ... It's the only physical thing I have to remember her by," said Bradley. Bradley is likely not the only victim. A short time later, a person resembling the thief with the hoodie was recorded in the same area, ringing a doorbell and likely looking for another target. SOLANA BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) - The Solana Beach City Council is the latest local government body to take up the gun control debate in the wake of recent mass shootings.On Wednesday night, the council passed Resolution 2018-036, which calls upon California Congressmen and women to pass gun safety regulations.Included in the resolution is official opposition to the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017, currently making its way through Congress.That bill would force states to honor Concealed Carry Permits from other states, regardless of how strict or relaxed each state's regulations are.Other parts of the Solana Beach resolution call for:- Raising the minimum age to buy a gun to 21- Banning the sale of military-style semiautomatic and automatic weapons- Banning the sale of high capacity magazines that hold more than 10 cartridges- Universal background checks- Mandatory safety training before buying a gun- A 10-day waiting period before taking possession of a gunYou can read the full text of the resolution here.The resolution makes Solana Beach the second city council in San Diego County to take up the issue. In January, a committee of the San Diego City Council passed a similar resolution.Meanwhile, the Del Mar City Council asked the Fairgrounds to consider ending the Crossroads of the West gun shows that take place there several times each year following protests at the event earlier this March.But gun rights advocates say moves like these are all grandstanding, and make the gun safety debate more divisive."I think the intention is to portray gun owners as dangerous and not law-abiding and it's just not true, it's the exact opposite," says Michael Schwartz, with the San Diego County Gun Owners PAC. SPRING VALLEY, Calif. (KGTV) — One person is dead after a fire tore through an East County home early Saturday.The fire broke out just before 3 a.m. at a residence located on Demona Place in Spring Valley. Fire fighters responded and were told by a neighbor that a 50-year-old man may still be inside the home. San Diego Sheriff's deputies tried to make contact with anyone inside, but nobody answered.Crews were able to force their way into the residence and begin extinguishing the fire, which had fully engulfed the home.One man was found inside the home and pulled from the living room area.SDSO says the man's injuries were unknown, but he likely suffered from smoke inhalation. He was taken to UCSD Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.Bomb Arson investigated were requested to the scene, but the origin and cause of the blaze were not known Saturday. 873
