SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The founder and former CEO of a San Diego startup pleaded guilty Wednesday to a federal wire fraud charge for stealing more than .5 million from his own company.Jeffrey Fildey, 56, of Las Vegas, created GoFormz Inc. -- which provides online mobile forms and reporting products -- and began illegally taking money from the company sometime around late 2015 and continued to do so through August 2017, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.U.S. Attorney Robert S. Brewer said, Fildey "abused a position of trust to brazenly steal company assets, treating GoFormz Inc. as his own private slush fund."Prosecutors say Fildey obtained loans -- supposedly for the company -- then kept the funds for himself, paid for personal expenditures on company credit cards, received cash advances for himself on company credit cards and took money directly from the company's bank account.A U.S. Attorney's Office statement announcing the plea cited examples that included a 6,250 loan he obtained for the company, which he immediately wired from the firm's bank account to his personal bank account. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego County will remain in the red tier for COVID-19 cases, with a state-adjusted case rate of 6.7 per 100,000 residents, the county's public health officer told the Board of Supervisors during their meeting Tuesday.California officials announced changes to the monitoring system for counties on Tuesday. County public health officials said their unadjusted case rate was above 7.0, at 7.2. However, because testing levels were above the state median testing volume, the county's adjustment level was decreased.While it's not possible to predict what the future holds for the state testing system, the county is exceeding testing numbers, Dr. Wilma Wooten said.Nick Macchione, county Health & Human Services director, said that by next moth, testing capacity is on track to increase to roughly 30,000 tests a week.Machionne said that along with facilitating the testing needs of schools, improved capacity will help the county stay above the state's testing median. The county also now has seven community-based organizations working to stop virus spread, Macchione said.The county's testing positivity percentage is 3.8%."They play a vital role of reaching our hardest-hit communities," he added. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Police sought public help Tuesday to identify a pair of suspects who robbed two San Diego State University Students at gunpoint just blocks from campus.The students were walking about 1:35 a.m. Monday at Campanile Drive and Dorothy Drive when two men approached and demanded their belongings, according to the SDSU Police Department. One of the suspects was armed with a handgun.The victims complied with the demands and were not injured, according to police, who said the suspects fled in a white, four-door car heading north on Campanile Drive toward Montezuma Road.Both suspects were described as roughly 170-pound black men, one about 5- foot-7 and the other about 5-foot-10. They both wore dark hooded sweatshirts, saggy pants and sneakers.The San Diego Police Department is investigating the robbery, but university police released information as part of a community safety notification.Anyone with information about the crime was asked to call the SDPD at (619) 531-2000.
