UK’s Chief Veterinary Officer says a feline has become the first animal in the United Kingdom to test positive for COVID-19.The cat's diagnosis was confirmed following tests at the Animal and Plant Health Agency laboratory in Weybridge, England on July 22, according to a UK government press release."Although this is the first confirmed case of an animal infection with the coronavirus strain in the UK, there is no evidence to suggest that the animal was involved in the transmission of the disease to its owners or that pets or other domestic animals are able to transmit the virus to people," the government said.The press release added that evidence suggests that the cat contracted the coronavirus from its owners who had previously tested positive for the virus."This is a very rare event with infected animals detected to date only showing mild clinical signs and recovering within a few days," Chief Veterinary Officer Christine Middlemiss said.The cat and its owners have made a full recovery. 1011

(KGTV) — Police are asking the public for help finding a 13-year-old who ran away from home on Sunday.Chula Vista Police say Angel, 13, ran away from his home at about 11 a.m. Based on his age and statements made to his family, police believe Angel to be at risk.Angel is described as a Hispanic male, 5-feet 8-inches tall, and weighing about 115 pounds. He has black hair with bleached ends and brown eyes. (KGTV) - Escondido Police shot and killed a man Saturday night steps away from the entrance to the Valley View Casino in North San Diego County, according to the San Diego Sheriff's Department.The shooting happened about 8 p.m. following a brief pursuit that began on the 1400 block of Timber Glen Rd. in Escondido.Lt. Rich Williams with SDSO said Escondido Police had been called to a home in that area around 7:35 p.m. for a "disturbance call."A potential suspect got into a vehicle, leading officers to the casino's valet entrance.Casino visitor Jonathan King-Cretot told 10News he was sitting near the front of the casino when he heard about four gunshots."Everyone screamed 'gun' and ran to the back of the casino," King-Cretot said. 783

VERO BEACH, Fla. -- For Crystal Smith, the midday heat in Florida isn't her biggest challenge. Living in a shelter, the single mom is trying to get back on her feet.She was one of the first people working at the "Dignity Food Truck" in Vero Beach."I've just been making food, certain dishes, just learning. (The organizers) give you on the job training and actually give you a job," said Smith.Set up by the Source, a Christian Ministry outreach in Vero Beach, it is a new program for the homeless and unemployed."What our students lack is real-time training in front of real customers. That's what Dignity Food Truck gives them. It gives them real exposure in real-time, made-to-order food," said Anthony Zorbaugh, the executive director of the Source.Chef Henry Restrepo said this is his most important mission in two decades of cooking."We train them for the culinary so they can get their life back," said Restrepo.Money raised goes back into the program.The truck was made possible by a 0,000 grant from the philanthropic group Impact 100."We love the mission.
