6/10"Paper Mario: The Origami King" tries really hard to make a good first impression. The game’s art style is dressed up to dazzle, the gameplay is simple and approachable, and the music is among the best of any Switch game to date. With every preceding moment, however, this game’s chores began to outweigh its charm, making it a paper-thin adventure for Nintendo’s most iconic character and one of the more disappointing gaming experiences of 2020.The Paper Mario series is known for its turn-based combat, and this entry continues that tradition. Even though it introduces a new ring-based battlefield that requires enemies to be lined up prior to the attack, it maintains the typical exchange of blows until HP is depleted. Rotating enemies is extremely repetitive, but it’s a lack of a leveling-up system that truly makes the combat feel like a drag. The absence of a skill tree equivalent not only creates for less attention to detail in battles, but it also had me wanting to avoid them altogether. Rather than gaining experience points, you’re rewarded with coins that allow for purchasing weapons (that eventually break down) and extra health, but with the game’s battles being so easy, I rarely felt the need to purchase anything. Boss battles provide a slightly tougher challenge, but after a few failed runs, even they begin to feel like busywork, making me long for a meaty JRPG experience with a purpose. 1427

(KGTV) -- Olive Garden's unlimited "Pasta Pass" promotion, which allows passholders eight weeks of unlimited pasta bowls, sold out in a slurp. It took only seconds to sell out of the restaurant's 22,000 passes priced at 0 each. The restaurant also offered its "Pasta Passport to Italy," which includes an all-expenses paid trip for two to Italy. The 50 available "passports" were sold for 0 each, and include unlimited pasta and the vacation. The passes went on sale Thursday at 11 a.m. Pacific Time."Sorry! All Pasta Passports to Italy were claimed instantly and are sold out," a message on the site said only minutes after the offer went live.According to the fine print for the "Pasta Passport," the 8-day, 7-night Italy vacation will take place on April 7, 2018. Roundtrip airfare, hotel, optional excursions and food are included. The unlimited pasta pass is good for free pasta between Sept. 25, 2017 and Nov. 19, 2017.Last year, the 21,000 passes that were up for grabs sold out in a second. But is the unlimited pasta for eight weeks a good deal?A quick internet search of prices for a box of pasta and a jar of spaghetti sauce shows that a single person can enjoy five servings of pasta for about -- that's breakfast, lunch and dinner for three bucks!Spread that out over 56 consecutive days, and that person will have paid 8.Maybe it's a good deal -- the restaurant offers a bigger variety, probably more ambiance and flair, and you don't have to do the dishes afterwards. Perhaps the bigger question is: do you really want to eat that much pasta ... alone ... just before the holidays? 1658
A big winner in this year's election was the marijuana industry, as five states approved some form of legalization.Mississippi approved it for medicinal use. Arizona, Montana and New Jersey approved it for recreational use. South Dakota approved it for both and became the first state to approve both forms of marijuana in the same election. The Drug Policy Alliance says it never expected the support in some states, but hopes it sends a message to lawmakers in Washington D.C.“It doesn’t just stop at marijuana reform,” said Matt Sutton with the Drug Policy Alliance. “People are really seeing drugs as being something that shouldn’t be criminalized in the U.S. and they definitely took that with them to the ballot box.”Changes could happen on the federal level. Congress was supposed to vote on the MORE Act in September. The bill would decriminalize marijuana by removing it from the list of controlled substances and expunge many previous convictions. The Drug Policy Alliance says the bill is now expected to go to a vote by the end of the year and hopes the momentum at the state level translates to a victory at the federal level.“I am hoping that this wave of victories across the country will definitely send a message to Congress and really light a fire under them to pass the MORE Act,” said Sutton. It wasn't just marijuana that won on election night. Oregon voters overwhelmingly approved a proposal to decriminalize possession of all drugs.People caught possessing hard drugs would have the option to pay a 0 fine or attend an addiction recovery center. Those centers are funded by the money generated by the tax revenue from Oregon’s legalized marijuana industry. 1688
