(KGTV) — A new challenger is approaching the video game market, and it's aiming to become the Netflix of video games.Google Tuesday introduced a new video game streaming service called Stadia. The platform promises to deliver gamers instant access to games on TV, mobile devices, or desktop computers in resolutions up to 4K and 60 frames per second."When players use Stadia, they'll be able to access their games at all times, and on virtually any screen," the company said in a release. "And developers will have access to nearly unlimited resources to create the games they’ve always dreamed of."RELATED: Video games are now a legitimate high school sportIn a contrast to many video game consoles and PCs, Google says Stadia won't require any downloads, updates, patches or installs for its content.Stadia also comes with its own controller, supported through WiFi. Much like current generation video game consoles, the controller will have buttons to capture gameplay happening on a user's screen instantly. However, Google has also inserted a Google Assistant button for its AI-powered virtual assistant. The controller also includes a built-in microphone.According to Engadget, the service will actually allow viewers watching a Stadia streaming to jump in line to join their game as part of a "Crowd Play" feature.Google released a trailer for the upcoming platform, touting it as a new place for gamers to play together:The service will launch later in 2019 in the U.S., Canada, U.K., and in several European countries. (KGTV) — A vintage-looking license plate didn't fool a Southern California officer in Moorpark.A Moorpark Police officer recently pulled over a tractor-trailer to conduct a traffic stop for a false license plate, the Ventura County Sheriff's Department said in a release Monday. The plate appeared to be designed after California's 1960s vintage plates — though with some obvious differences.Instead of "California" the plate read "Califas." The plate's lettering also appeared uneven.During the traffic stop, the driver of the truck appeared to be under the influence, the sheriff's department says. The motorcycle officer's assumption turned out to be correct, the department said, as the driver was arrested for being under the influence, possession of methamphetamine, being an unlicensed driver, and having an active arrest warrant.Authorities ended up towing the truck, as well, citing it was unsafe to drive, the department said. 944

(KGTV) — Firefighters in Riverside County are battling yet another fire as Santa Ana conditions sweep through Southern California.The Hill Fire ignited in the Jurupa Valley community just before 10 a.m., quickly growing from 15 acres to hundreds acres within hours, according to CAL Fire. (KGTV) — A recent study may cause pause at the dinner table this holiday season for millions of Americans.The study by the New England Journal of Medicine claims that nearly one in two adults (49 percent) will be obese by 2030, with obesity rates being at least 35 percent in every state and higher than 50 percent in 29 states. Nearly one in four adults are projected to have severe obesity by 2030. "Severe obesity" is projected to be the most common body-mass index (BMI) category among women, black adults, and low-income adults nationally, the study added.RELATED: Carlsbad company invents weight loss balloon"Our analysis indicates that the prevalence of adult obesity and severe obesity will continue to increase nationwide, with large disparities across states and demographic subgroups," the study said.Most previous obesity estimates have relied on surveys in which respondents often understate their weight. The new report used decades-long federal study to get a more accurate picture of the growing epidemic.The study says BMI data from more than 6.2 million adults collected from the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System Survey in 1993-1994 and 1999-2016 was used and measured with data from 57,000 adults who participated in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey.
