DAWSONVILLE, Ga. — A quiet neighborhood in Dawsonville, Georgia is in shock after a Tampa man traveled there and allegedly killed his ex-wife and her sister on Thursday.Lumpkin County Sheriff Stacy Jarrard said Kelley McDonald Jr., 39, shot four people in the home before turning the gun on himself.  McDonald's ex-wife and her sister were both killed. McDonald shot and wounded a 16-year-old in the home and his 2-year-old daughter. Both were rushed to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, according to Jarrard. The sheriff said the victim was hiding from her ex-husband but he tracked her down to the community about an hour north of Atlanta. Around 8:30 a.m., deputies responded to a call of shots fired. A 13-year-old inside the home during the shooting was able to escape and call 911.Court documents show McDonald and his ex-wife divorced in October 2017. According to an active arrest warrant out of Hillsborough County, Florida, McDonald was wanted for attacking his ex-wife on December 30 inside her Tampa condo. The warrant was for domestic violence with strangulation and burglary with assault.  Tampa neighbors said they were friendly with the victim but noticed a lot of police going in and out of the home. They said she recently moved out. They were shocked and saddened to learn she was murdered.McDonald’s mother spoke to Scripps station WFTS in Tampa outside her Tampa home. She said the family was “shocked and just learning of the news.”  Court documents show an emergency motion was filed on February 26 by the victim asking domestic violence injunction petition.  Lumpkin County Sheriff 's Office posted on Facebook that anyone seeking refuge for domestic violence in a community should always reach out to any local domestic violence organization they can contact. The sheriff writing on Facebook, “If you have taken refuge in a community, I encourage you to reach out to the local law enforcement of that area so that they may be aware of any situations that might arise in order to keep you and your family safe.”The names of the victims have not been released. 2156

Days after the election, the country is still in limbo wondering who our next president is. It can be stressful for adults, but we have to remember, our kids are watching, too."The divisiveness has gotten so significant, and we really can’t help prevent our kids from getting exposed to it," said Children's Hospital Colorado child and adolescent psychologist Dr. Jessica Hawks. For months before this polarized election, children have seen attack ads, rallies, and protests. Our country is so divided with this election, and it's still not over."It’s inevitable that they’re going to see it," said Dr. Hawks. So, Dr. Hawks says instead of trying to shield our children, we should be open and have age-appropriate conversations."A lot of times parents worry that approaching these sensitive topics can somehow be unhelpful, or maybe amplify the problem, but the opposite is true. Talking about it is really important," said Dr. Hawks. But it’s not just talking with our children. We have to be mindful of the conversations we have with the other adults in our house."As parents, we have to be really aware of how we’re showing up every day in front of our kids to make sure we’re doing the things we need to be doing to help promote our kids’ health and well-being," said Dr. Hawks. She says this is a great opportunity to teach our kids several lessons. One is how to be a critical thinker."One of the things parents can be doing right now is teaching their kids how do you evaluate the information out there in a critical way, look to trusted news sources to be able to inform people's opinions," said Dr. Hawks.Another thing you can teach your kids is how to have differing viewpoints."It’s important that kids learn how to stop, listen, ask questions, be open to other people’s perspectives, and be able to do that in a way that maybe at the end of that conversation, you don’t change your opinion, but you have the ability to engage in that important political discourse in a respectful way," said Hawks.Especially in this election that’s split so closely down the middle. 2081

DENVER – Shanann Watts’ family has sued Chris Watts to try and keep him from ever profiting off the deaths of their daughter or granddaughters. The lawsuit when Watts was sentenced to life in prison without parole, is a wrongful death claim intended to help the family recoup funeral expenses, the loss of Shanann’s future income and give them compensation for ongoing emotional distress stemming from the killings of Shanann, her daughters Bella and Celeste, and her unborn child. The family’s attorneys say that the family and Shanann’s estate are entitled to economic and non-economic damages under Colorado law, and the lawsuit asks that the family be able to amend the claims in the future. That will likely amount to thousands of dollars in restitution, District Attorney Michael Rourke said last week. One of the family’s attorneys, Steven Lambert, said last week that the point of the suit was to keep Watts from profiting off the case in the future should he write a book or try and get money from the sale of their house.“He cannot profit from any inheritance that he would normally receive from Shanann,” Lambert said. “On top of that, any proceed that he might derive from a sale of a book – he would not be able to keep any of that. Also, any assets that he might receive once we get a judgment from the court, we can file any liens and get things like that on any assets from here into the future.”The lawsuit says that Shanann’s father, Frank Rzucek, is also entitled to similar claims because Watts pleaded guilty to unlawful termination of a pregnancy for killing his and Shanann’s unborn child, whom the family called Nico.Watts pleaded guilty to nine counts in the case and received three consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole, in addition to several more consecutive and concurrent sentences for other counts. He was transferred this week to a Denver facility to undergo mental and medical evaluations before he is sent to prison. 1982

Deceptive ads disguised as celebrity news have been luring and hooking consumers around the country. Theresa Sonberg signed up for a trial of the KA eye serum after reading that "Flip or Flop" star Christina El Moussa uses it.Sonberg learned the online story was fake only after the skin care outfit hit her credit card for 0. Other fabricated stories claimed actress Pauley Perrett quit the hit show NCIS to focus on her skin care line.Connie Johnson fell for a made-up article about Shark Tank stars promoting Hydralie skin care. The  trial cost Hal Johnson and his wife over 0.In fact, more than 500 skin care products tied to 4,000 complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) in the last three years. The Attorney General's Office is also investigating after receiving more than 120 similar complaints this year alone. The products all have different names but they all ship from one warehouse: Hashtag Fulfillment in St. Petersburg, Florida. The return address on many skin creams are tied to dozens of post office boxes. The BBB says they're all owned by Hashtag Fulfillment. The skin care companies respond to credit card disputes with copies of terms and conditions that say the trial triggers an auto bill enroll program. Many say they never saw the fine print. In some cases consumers get their money back after filing a dispute with their credit card or bank. Others are left to pay the debt. When asked about Hashtag Fulfillment's business practices, CEO Eric Pogue released the following statement 1592

DEL MAR, Calif. (KGTV) — Shine your ruby red slippers and prepare for a walk down the yellow brick road to Emerald City — well, Del Mar.The San Diego County Fair's 2019 theme of "Oz-some" will encompass the iconic books and films surrounding L. Frank Baum's classic "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.""The Fair's theme is quite special to San Diegans, because Oz author L. Frank Baum is thought to have found inspiration for at least 3 of his 14 Oz books during his extended stays in Coronado," Katie Mueller, deputy general manager of fair time operations, said. "Though most people know Oz only through the famous movie, the Fair has chosen to bring the books to life, including a few differences that will be a surprise to most. For instance, Dorothy's famous slippers are silver, not ruby."SAN DIEGO FAIR 2018: BY THE NUMBERSThe fair will run from May 31, 2019, to July 4, 2019, and be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays in June.Fair officials say San Diegans will get to journey to Emerald City and enjoy education exhibits, wicked carnival rides, and more fair fun they've come to know and love. The Toyota Summer Concert Series will also return with 27 nights of entertainment already announced for the fair's Corona Grandstand Stage. Justin Moore, Jim Gaffigan, Mariachi Sol de Mexico, truTV's Impractical Jokers, Smokey Robinson, Grupo Intocable, and Brad Upton are slated to take the stage.Season passes are now on sale for and passport books are also available for before the fair kicks off.
