A visitor to Yellowstone National Park was injured by a grizzly bear while hiking near Old Faithful on Monday.According to a park press release, the 37-year-old woman from Missouri was hiking alone on the Fairy Falls Trail when she encountered two grizzly bears "at very close range."One of the bears knocked the woman down, and she suffered a scratch on her thigh. The woman also received minor injuries to her face from the fall. She declined medical attention.The park said the woman attempted to use bear spray during the encounter."From the injured person's statements, this appears to be a typical case of a mother grizzly bear protecting her offspring following a close-range encounter," said Kerry Gunther, a bear management biologist. "Because this bear was displaying natural protective behavior for its cub, no action will be taken against the bear. Several trails in the area will be closed to give the grizzly family group time to clear from the area."Monday's incident marks the first time a bear has injured a visitor in Yellowstone in 2020. The last time a bear injured a visitor in the park was in June 2019 when a black bear bit into an occupied tent and bruised a woman's thigh.Following the incident, the Fairy Falls Trail was cleared of hikers. A massive redevelopment plan that would add a hotel and convention center to Chula Vista's bayfront cleared its last major hurdle Tuesday. The Port of San Diego board of directors unanimously approved the plan, which would add a 1,600 room hotel a 400,000 square-foot convention center along the shores of Bayside Park. The project has been in the works for more than a decade, but developer RIDA can now pull permits for the .1 billion project. "It's transformational," said port commissioner Ann Moore, noting the project would add retail, restaurants, park space and create 7,000 permanent jobs. "The revenues that this project generates will actually be used to pay for the project."Chula Vista residents at Bayside Park expressed concern Tuesday that the traffic would be overwhelming. "I think that Chula Vista is already kind of crowded so I don't know if that's the best thing to have people coming into the city," said resident Sherry Hunter. Ed Conroy, who walks in the park daily, said he expected an onslaught of traffic but that the extra crowds could benefit local businesses."It looks like they're growing," he said. A man was arrested on a DUI charge last week in Port St. Lucie, Florida after police spotted him riding a lawn mower, carrying a case of beer and driving erratically on an access road.An officer spotted 56-year-old Kenneth Burton Alleshouse on Nov. 3 at about 6:15 p.m.The officer stopped Alleshouse driving the lawn mower and could smell a strong odor of alcohol emitting from him.The officer conducted a DUI investigation and police say Alleshouse's blood alcohol level was three times over the legal limit. 532

A Mississippi school district has apologized and a high school band director has been suspended after the band staged a halftime skit that depicted police being held at gunpoint.The controversial skit came as the Forest Hill High School band from Jackson performed Friday during a football game against Brookhaven High School to the south.
