is strengthening in the Atlantic Ocean. At 8 p.m. ET, the center of Jerry is moving toward the west-northwest at about 15 mph. The storm is expected to move slightly faster in that direction over the next few days. On the forecast track, the system will be near the northern Leeward Islands Thursday night or Friday.Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 60 mph with higher gusts. Jerry is expected to continue strengthening over the next couple of days and become a hurricane on Thursday.Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles from the center of the system. The consensus among most the long-range computer models — including the European and American model — is that the storm will curve north by early next week, due to a weakness in the Bermuda High. This story was originally published by Kahtia Hall on 834

You might just need to walk into a Walmart to experience a Christmas miracle. In recent weeks, anonymous good Samaritans have paid off all layaway items in four Walmart stores in different parts of the country -- a total of more than 0,000.Julie Gates got an unusual surprise in early November when she walked into a Walmart in Derby, Vermont. A man waiting at the register offered to pay for everything she had bought and had on layaway --?and did the same thing for most customers in the store. This mystery man, who called himself "Santa," was apparently the first in a string of similar random acts of kindness in Walmarts across the United States. Since then, Walmart customers at stores in New York, Colorado and Pennsylvania discovered that their bills were taken care of and their layaway items had been paid for.All the mysterious Santas have chosen to remain anonymous -- and each has been generous in their acts of kindness.A Walmart spokesman confirmed to CNN that an anonymous donor paid for ,000 in layaway items at a Uniondale, New York, store while another spent ,000 in a Longmont, Colorado, store and a third shelled out ,000 at a Walmart in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. Secret Santas have visited Walmart in seasons past, too. In 2016, a Santa paid for almost ,000 in layaway items at a store in Everett, Pennsylvania."When customers quietly pay off others' layaway items, we're reminded how good people can be," Walmart spokesman Payton McCormick said. "We're honored to be a small part of these random acts of kindness."McCormick said he doesn't know what's behind all the generosity but suspects it has something to do with the holidays. The store in Uniondale posted a picture of all the receipts from the unknown customer's act of kindness."Thank you again on behalf of the Uniondale community," the store posted on Facebook.Walmart shopper Lisa Mcmillan, who according to her Facebook profile lives in Longmont, says she was "blessed by some Christmas angel.""I had been freaking out about Christmas and not being able to get my kids presents, as I am a single mom of 5 at the moment," she posted on Facebook. On November 29, she said she received an email from Walmart that her layaway account of 0 had been paid for by an anonymous person."I pray to God that whoever did this is reading this right now...You have absolutely no idea what you did for me and how much of a burden you lifted off my shoulders," she said. 2486

After serving time in jail the past three and a half months, Montanez said she gave him a second chance to get his act together. WFTX reached out to the State Attorney's Office and Cape Coral police to try and get confirmation that this phone call happened Monday. They said they are looking into it but can't yet confirm Montanez's account. Authorities said they won't be able to release what is said in any of Wilson's phone calls from jail because it's still an active investigation. Wilson remains in the Lee County jail on unrelated charges. He has not been charged for both deaths, but those charges are expected to be upgraded soon. This story was originally published by Jillian Hartmann at WFTX. 705

her and fellow Rep. Ilhan Omar from visiting the country."Congresswoman Tlaib has sent tonight a letter to Minister Deri in which she committed to accept all the demands of Israel to respect the restrictions imposed on her in the visit, and she also promised not to advance boycotts against Israel during her visit," Interior Minister Aryeh Deri said Friday in a statement announcing his decision. The request from Tlaib of Michigan came a day after the country barred her and Omar, a freshman Democrat from Minnesota, from entering because of their support of a boycott against Israel. Israel's decision to bar their entry was encouraged by President Donald Trump in a remarkable step both by the US President and his ally, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, to punish political opponents.Tlaib had asked Deri for access so that she could visit her relatives, "and specifically my grandmother, who is in her 90s and lives in Beit Ur al-Fouqa. This could be my last opportunity to see her.""I will respect any restrictions and will not promote boycotts against Israel during my visit," Tlaib promised in the letter. The boycott movement, formally known as the Boycott, Divest, and Sanctions (BDS) movement, aims to end international support for Israel because of its policies toward Palestinians, as well as its continued construction of West Bank settlements, considered a violation of international law.Tlaib and Omar have been vocal critics of Israel and have supported the boycott movement, voting against a House resolution condemning the movement, which received broad bipartisan support.Strategic Affairs Minister Gilad Erdan, who leads Israel's fight against the boycott movement, tweeted Friday morning, "The request from Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib to visit her grandmother should be approved. Especially in light of her commitment to abide by Israeli law and not advance boycotts against us."Erdan is one of the members of the forum who met on Wednesday to discuss whether to allow Reps. Tlaib and Omar to enter the country.Ban came after Trump interventionThe announcement Thursday to prohibit the congresswomen from visiting Israel came shortly after Trump said Israel would be showing "great weakness" by letting them in.Trump has criticized the two lawmakers -- who are the first two Muslim women elected to Congress -- in harsh and sometimes racist terms. But his move to call for their ban in Israel reflects a new chapter in his grudge and a further erosion of presidential norms, which in the past sought to avoid instilling partisanship in foreign affairs.Trump's comments left Israel with little wiggle room, especially for Netanyahu, who has never publicly disagreed with Trump."The plan of the two Congresswomen is only to damage Israel and to foment against Israel," Netanyahu said in a statement following the decision.Omar responded to the decision Thursday slamming it as "an insult to democratic values.""It is an affront that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, under pressure from President Trump, would deny entry to representatives of the U.S. government," Omar said in a statement. "Trump's Muslim ban is what Israel is implementing, this time against two duly elected Members of Congress."Omar went on to say, "As a member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, it is my job to conduct oversight of foreign aid from the United States of America and to legislate on human rights practices around the world. The irony of the 'only democracy' in the Middle East making such a decision is that it is both an insult to democratic values and a chilling response to a visit by government officials from an allied nation."Israel's decision to deny entry to the two freshmen congresswomen was a turnaround of a position taken last month when the country's Ambassador to the United States Ron Dermer said the pair would be permitted to visit Israel and the Palestinian territories. 3915
