Consumers can consider many factors when evaluating an airline, but getting you where you’re going on time, not losing your checked bag, and giving you no reason to lodge a formal complaint seem like decent baselines.Fortunately, the government requires the nation’s largest dozen commercial airlines to report statistics on just those things. The Air Travel Consumer Report, released by the Department of Transportation, measures not only performance of major U.S. airlines such as American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines, but also regional carriers such as ExpressJet and SkyWest, which are contracted to fly short routes to and from hubs of those big airlines. Here’s how airlines measured up in 2017, according to the report.On-time rates 784
Consumers are being warned that some over-the-counter teething products for babies can pose a serious risk. The Food and Drug Administration announced Wednesday that oral health products for infants containing the pain reliever benzocaine for the temporary relief of sore gums should not be marketed or sold."If companies do not comply, the FDA will initiate a regulatory action to remove these products from the market. Country star Jason Aldean was performing when a gunman began firing on the crowd from inside Mandalay Bay. Now, Aldean is opening up about how he's been coping since the tragedy of Oct. 1, 2017. "I think you go through a lot of different emotions of being thankful that none of your family and friends was injured. And then you feel guilty," said Aldean. "Those people are there to see your show so that's awful."Since that dreadful night in October, Aldean has struggled with the complexity of his feelings about surviving the country's deadliest mass shooting in modern history. "And then you start doing that thing, like, 'Man, did that really happen. Did that really happen to us?' It seems so crazy. Like how could that even be a thing?"Aldean said his wife and crew were a great comfort to him, but it was visiting the injured in the hospital and the birth of his son that put things in perspective. "That helped. Going back to the hospital, going back to Vegas and seeing those people. Seeing some of the strength they were having," said Aldean. " People laid up in the hospital and smiling and laughing and just being glad they were alive."His son was born exactly two months after the Las Vegas shooting."Really to me, he just gave me something else to focus on. Something else to think about on a daily basis," he said. "Something else to keep my mind occupied where I wasn't just reliving it over, over and over." RELATED: Jason Aldean's wife posts about book from 1 October survivors Aldean has new music coming out Friday and is up for Entertainer of the Year for the third year in a row at the Academy of Country Music Awards. Co-founders of Tinder and eight other former and current executives of the popular dating app are suing the service's current owners, alleging that they manipulated the valuation of the company to deny them of billions of dollars they were owed. The suit, filed Tuesday in state court in New York, seeks at least billion in damages from Match Group and its parent company, IAC/InterActiveCorp. The plaintiffs are represented by Orin Snyder of Gibson Dunn, who has represented some of the biggest companies in tech, including Facebook, Apple and Uber. The dispute centers on an analysis of Tinder done in 2017 by Wall Street banks to set a value for stock options received by Sean Rad, a Tinder co-founder, and other early employees. It also includes an allegation of sexual harassment against Tinder's former CEO, Greg Blatt.CNN has reached out to IAC, Blatt and IAC for comment multiple times, and has yet to hear back. Come on, let Fido up on the bed — you could get a better night's sleep as a result.Researchers say women who share their beds with dogs get a better night's rest.According to the study in the Journal of the International Society for Anthrozoology, female dog owners reported less disturbed sleep while also experiencing greater feelings of comfort and security. It's important to note, however, these results are based on self-reported data and not an objective measure. But bad news, cat owners: the study found women who slept side-by-side with their feline friends did not report the same sleep benefits. 618
