ALPINE, Calif. (KGTV) - The San Diego Sheriff’s Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation requested Wednesday the public’s help to find a man suspected of robbing an Alpine bank. The man held up the US Bank inside the Albertson’s grocery store (2955 Alpine Blvd.) on Tuesday about 4 p.m., deputies said. Investigators said the man approached the teller and presented a demand note. He took cash and ran away. Surveillance cameras show the man, who deputies said is Hispanic and in his late 20s or early 30s, wearing a black shirt, black “LA” hat, and jeans. (KGTV) - The West Fire Benefit Dinner and Live Auction held Saturday night in Alpine raised at least ,000 for the families who lost everything.A final tally of all the money raised could take up to a week; all of it going to the Alpine Foundation. Aldon Smith, who was the NFC's Defensive Player of the Year, has a warrant out for his arrest on Monday after a possible domestic incident from the weekend, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. Smith is wanted on charges of misdemeanor domestic violence, assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury, false imprisonment and vandalism, the Chronicle reported. Earlier the in the day, the Oakland Raiders released Smith. The incident in question was reportedly Saturday evening, and the victim identified Smith as the suspect. TMZ reported that Smith checked into a rehab facility on Monday. Smith has had frequent encounters with law enforcement. The Chronicle reported that Smith has three previous DUI arrests. (AP) — A single-engine airplane has crash-landed and burned on a Southern California freeway.The Los Angeles County Fire Department says the plane struck the center divider of U.S. 101 and the pilot was removed from the craft without injury early Tuesday afternoon.No vehicles were involved in the crash about 30 miles (48 kilometers) west of downtown Los Angeles.The aircraft appeared to be a vintage propeller plane with World War II-era German air force markings.The crash snarled traffic on U.S. 101, a major California highway. 561
