His death is believed to have been a suicide.Peace, also known as Jeremiah Alfred Horton, allegedly killed 37-year-old Elizabeth Stolz and her 65-year-old mother, Debora, during a custody dispute that erupted Sunday after he arrived at their residence in the 4300 block of Ebersole Drive to pick up the baby for visitation."This appears to be a tragic case of domestic violence," San Diego Police Lt. Matt Dobbs said.Officers responding to a report of a loud disturbance and gunfire found the women mortally wounded and the child gone.Peace, who was married to another woman, dropped his son off with his wife at her Rolando-area home before fleeing to Mexico, according to police.The child has been placed in protective custody at Polinsky Children's Center, a county-run shelter in Kearny Mesa. 1202

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Countywide sales of previously owned single-family homes and attached properties like condominiums increased from June to July while median sale prices ticked down, according to data released Wednesday by the Greater San Diego Association of Realtors.Single-family home sales rose 2.4%, from 1,980 in June to 2,028 in July, while attached property sales ticked up 5.1%, from 975 in June to 1,025 last month. Both increases are a modest recovery for the housing market after housing sales tumbled by double digits from May to June.Median sales prices for both property types dipped slightly in July after steady gains each month of the year, save for attached property prices from March to April. Single-family home prices decreased 2.2% from 0,000 in June to 5,000 in July, while attached property prices dipped 1.5% from 1,500 in June to 5,000 last month.``The inventory of homes for sale across the county just can't seem to jump-start, although some neighborhoods have been consistently strong,'' said SDAR President Kevin Burke. ``We can be thankful for the continuing economic expansion, low mortgage rates and the recent reduction in the benchmark interest rate by the Fed.''Year-over-year sales declined for both property types, according to the GSDAR. Single-family home sales dipped 3.3% in July when compared to a year ago -- from 2,097 to 2,028, while attached property sales fell 2.8% from 1,055 in July 2018 to 1,025 last month.Year-over-year sales prices increased slightly for both property types. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Authorities Friday publicly identified a 20-year-old man who was found dead of an apparent homicide in a car parked on a Southcrest- area roadside.Patrol officers responding to a report of a possible traffic accident in the 4000 block of Boston Avenue around 11:50 a.m. Wednesday found Ismail Abouabid mortally wounded behind the wheel of the parked vehicle, bleeding from the head, according to San Diego police.Abouabid, who had recently relocated to San Diego from Erie, Pennsylvania, was pronounced dead at the scene, Lt. Matt Dobbs said. Police initially reported that the man apparently had been shot to death but later backed off from those statements.RELATED: Police investigating after man found dead in car in Southcrest``It is very early in the investigation, and little is known about the events leading to (his) death,'' Dobbs said. ``The mechanism for the man's injury is not being released at this time.''Witnesses told investigators three male teenagers had been with the victim shortly before his death.``The group of teenagers walked away towards a nearby park just before the victim was discovered with the injury,'' the lieutenant said. 1182

  

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Authorities reached out to the public Friday for help in identifying the perpetrator of a felony battery that left a 24-year-old woman seriously injured last weekend in Carmel Valley.The victim was walking to her car with friends in a parking lot in the 12600 block of Torrey Bluff Drive about 9:45 p.m. Sunday when someone threw an unknown type of object at her, possibly from a inside dark-colored SUV, according to San Diego police.The projectile hit the woman in the eye, leaving her with major trauma, including permanent orbital-bone damage.Investigators, who have no description of the assailant, have been checking the area for surveillance footage of the seemingly unprovoked attack but have yet to find any, police said.Anyone who might be able to help detectives track down the perpetrator was asked to call San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477 or contact the agency online at sdcrimestoppers.org.
