Thousands more people are one paycheck away from becoming homeless.As a county, San Diego has the fourth-largest homeless population in the United States. Representatives are on hand 24 hours a day to answer all questions. Last year, the hotline received more than 500,000 calls, about a fourth of which dealt with housing concerns. Learn more FOR HOUSING City of San Diego: Anyone in need of a bed in one of the city’s four emergency shelters and three bridge shelters will be placed through an assessment, with space going to the “most vulnerable people first”, the city reports. The assessment can be taken at multiple locations around the city, most of which provide other services to the homeless. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Three men were arrested in Tijuana for the brutal murder of three teens in Mexico, including two from San Diego. The three suspects, identified only as Fabricio, Esteban Manuel and Alejandro were arrested at an unknown time, authorities in Mexico say. 17-year-old Christopher Alexis Gomez and 18-year-old Juan Suarez Ojeda were found shot to death in Tijuana on November 25. Both teenagers attended O'Farrell Charter School in Encanto. Another teen believed to be Ojeda’s friend was also killed. RELATED: Two San Diegans, Mexican teen shot to death in TijuanaGomez’s cousin, Katheryn Garcia, said the two were likely tortured in different locations before being killed execution-style in front of a housing complex. Garcia said her cousin planned to head to a barbecue in Ensenada on Friday. Investigators believe all three teenagers were taken from an apartment complex at gunpoint before being killed. It’s still unknown why the teens may have been targeted. Gomez's family sent 10News the following statement: “As a family we are very conflicted by the events and are still hurting, we miss him dearly and just feel a bit of comfort to know that the people responsible have been caught and that our sweet Alex is getting a bit of justice.”A GoFundMe page was set up to help Gomez’s and Suarez-Ojeda’s families with funeral costs and expenses.According to reports, murders in Tijuana hit a record number in 2018, topping out at more than 2,000. 1476

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The owner of Waypoint Public in North Park has found a way to help his business rebound from the Coronavirus Pandemic, while also assisting other businesses to do the same.John Pani invited Dang Brothers Pizza to set up a shop inside his restaurant."I've got a 5,000 square foot restaurant," says Pani. "Doing what we were doing at Waypoint, we could have done that in a 500 square foot restaurant."Pani closed Waypoint in mid-March before County Health Officials imposed a stay at home order. During the closure, he worried about his 130 employees and wanted to find a way to put them back to work.Pani decided to reopen with a limited menu of take-out items that his chefs could prepare.Then in June, he asked a friend who runs Dang Brothers to join him."They're mostly catering and special events. They don't have a brick and mortar shop," Pani says. "I told him, 'Hey man, come set your tent up.' So we craned in a little pizza oven onto our patio and got going."Pani says the response has been fantastic. Now he wants to invite other vendors to set up in his restaurant. He thinks it could create a street-market style environment that will give people a reason to come back to North Park."We have to find a new normal," Pani says. "I don't think we're going to be packing in restaurants any time soon. At least, I personally hope we aren't..."So we have to find a way to hopefully keep businesses alive and still provide the interaction and the hospitality and the food and beverage that people want and need. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - This week, a massive Mola mola fish stunned whale watchers in San Diego.The fish is a unique sight, appearing to look like a giant fish head with fins. It's also known as the sunfish. Domenic Biagini, owner and captain of Gone Whale Watching San Diego, says they specialize in giving people once in a lifetime encounters. "Whenever I give my opening spiel, I tell them I'll show them anything that moves," said Biagini.RELATED: Thar she blows! Where to whale watch in San Diego — by land or seaOn this trip, the massive Mola mola stole the show.Biagini says while mola is common here, they're usually 2 to 3 feet long in our waters. He believes the one they spotted was 7 to 8 feet. "When we came across this specific one, we were kind of blown away by the sheer magnitude of it," said Biagini.Biagini happened to have divers on his boat that day, who told him mola is one of the prized fish to swim with.
