A famous guitar making company that's been in business more than 100 years could be headed into bankruptcy.A report by the Nashville Post in early February states Gibson Guitar is facing huge debt obligations. Gibson's Chief Financial Officer, Bill Lawrence, left the firm six months before 5 million of senior secured notes were due to mature. Lawrence had been working for the company for little over a year before he left, reports say."Another 5 million in bank loans will come due immediately if those notes, issued in 2013, are not refinanced by July 23," the Nashville Post report says.Bond holders are frustrated.The Gibson company recently sold a former Baldwin Piano warehouse in The Gulch. The warehouse was sold for .4 million, the Nashville Post says."It also is trying to sell the nearby Valley Arts building on Church Street, although that deal has landed in court. A hazmat situation has been confirmed at Merrol Magnet High School in Hendersonville, Tennessee.An official said at least 17 people were triaged at the scene Wednesday morning, and multiple patients, including a teacher and high school students, were taken to area hospitals. Some of those were being treated in Hendersonville, while others were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.The situation was described as an incident in a science class. The school was evacuated, and the students were relocated following the incident.The injuries were described as possible chemical burns; however, exact details on the injuries had not yet been released.The building is split between a middle school/high school and an elementary school. School was dismissed as a precaution at 10:15 a.m. for the middle and high schools. Elementary students were also released. A command center has been set up near campus for parents to pick up their children.Authorities said they have been airing out the school to make sure no further incidents take place. The fire department will investigate inside the building and will be responsible for giving the all clear at the scene. 1190

A Brownsville, Texas man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison after stealing and reselling .2 million in fajitas from a juvenile detention center over the span of nine years.Gilberto Escamilla had previously pleaded guilty to felony theft charges.Escamilla was caught last summer after he took a day off work from the Darrel B. Hester Juvenile Detention Center for a doctor's appointment. A driver called the kitchen at the juvenile center saying they had 800 pounds of fajitas to drop off.The center did not serve fajitas, but the driver said he had been delivering the meat to the center for nine years.After the driver spilled the beans, investigators found packages of fajitas in Escamilla's fridge where he reportedly sold the meat to separate buyers.Escamilla was fired from his job in August.The-CNN-Wire 865

A federal judge ordered the Trump administration to fully restore the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program Friday and accept new applicants for the first time since 2017, according to media reports.A judge with the U.S. District Court in Brooklyn told the Department of Homeland Security to post a public notice by Monday that states they will accept DACA petitions from immigrants who qualify and are not currently enrolled.The judge also instructed DHS officials to grant approved applicants work permits that last two years, and not the one year limit the Trump administration had proposed, according to CBS News."DHS is DIRECTED to post a public notice, within 3 calendar days of this Order, to be displayed prominently on its website and on the websites of all other relevant agencies, that it is accepting first-time requests for consideration of deferred action under DACA, renewal requests, and advance parole requests, based on the terms of the DACA program prior to September 5, 2017, and in accordance with this court's Memorandum & Order of November 14, 2020," the judge wrote.The Trump administration tried to end DACA in 2017, but the U.S. Supreme Court ruled against him in June 2020. Wolf issued a memo in July saying that new applications for DACA would not be accepted and renewals would be limited to one year. The memo essentially suspended the program.Friday’s order follows a ruling in November from the same judge that found acting DHS secretary Chad Wolf did not have the legal authority to close DACA to new applicants, shorten the period for work permits or change protections from deportations.The judge ruled at the time Wolf’s appointment to his position violated the Homeland Security Act of 2002. In his ruling, the judge wrote DHS failed to follow an order of succession established when then-Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen resigned in April 2019.The nonpartisan Government Accountability Office determined in August that Wolf’s appointment was invalid. 2003
