(KGTV) — San Diego's Board of Supervisors voted to enter into an agreement with Tri-City Healthcare District to build a new psychiatric health facility in Oceanside.The county will contribute .4 million to build a 16-bed facility on a piece of vacant land at Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside. Tri-City will operate the facility, but the county will lease the property, build the facility, and sublease the building to Tri-City.Tri-City Healthcare District closed its Behavioral Health Unit in 2018 over changes in federal regulations. Regulations required the hospital to remove all "ligature" risks from rooms, or features of rooms that patients could use to hand themselves. The hospital's "drop" ceilings also did not meet regulations. Replacing the ceilings alone would cost million.The hospital's behavioral health unit provides adult inpatient psychiatric services. The departure of those services have made filling emergency behavioral needs in North County increasingly challenging. Patients had to instead be taken to Palomar Hospital in Escondido or San Diego County Mental Health off of Rosecrans Street.Not only did it make emergency situations a longer drive for patients, but officers would be removed from their jurisdictions for 5 to 6 hours.“Getting Tri-City Health into the behavioral health business has been a top priority,” said Supervisor Jim Desmond, whose district includes the hospital. “The biggest winners are the residents of San Diego County, residents and families who count on and rely on the needed behavioral health services.”The facility could take up to three years to open. 1645

(AP) — A 6-year-old girl was struck in the head by what police say was a celebratory gunfire bullet during New Year's Eve parties in Northern California.The East Bay Times reports the child, who has not been identified, is in stable condition at a hospital Tuesday.Police say the girl was shot sometime before 2 a.m. during a family party in her East Oakland backyard.Investigators say the bullet was apparently fired into the air from another location nearby. Previously, Reddit has allowed groups and individuals more leeway when censoring content on the site.Launched in 2015 along with Trump's presidential campaign, r/The_Donald grew to nearly 800,000 members before it was removed from Reddit. While the group did not have any affiliation with Trump or the Trump campaign, the then-Republican nominee participated in an "Ask Me Anything" discussion in the group during the 2016 presidential campaign.The group has become known for a breeding ground for conspiracy theories. According to reports, the group helped propel the "Pizzagate" theory that led to the arrest of an armed man at a D.C.-area pizza restaurant shortly after the 2016 election. It also routinely hosted Islamophobic discussions and promoted other content many considered to be racist.According to a disclaimer, Reddit says r/The_Donald was banned violating Rules 1 (harassment, threats of violence), 2 (spamming, vote manipulation) and 8 (don't break the site or do anything that interferes with the normal use of Reddit).Reddit had previously taken steps to curtail r/The_Donald. In June 2019, the network "quarantined" the site, meaning that the subreddit would not show up in search results and could not appear on the site's front page.
