SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 33-year-old man was in custody this morning on suspicion of trying to carjack a man in the Talmadge area.The victim was driving in the area of Euclid Avenue and El Cajon Boulevard around 2 p.m. Friday when the suspect grabbed onto the victim's vehicle and was able to get the passenger door open, Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department said.The suspect, identified as Christopher Gomez, got inside and began hitting the victim and asking for the vehicle, Heims said.The victim drove to a parking lot and got Gomez out of the vehicle. Gomez was later arrested, according to Heims.It was unclear whether the driver sustained any injuries. 681

The 19-year-old man was weaving in and out of lanes near Camino de Estrella about 3 a.m., agents said. He drove his 1997 Chevy pickup truck to a nearby gas station and agents followed to conduct a safety check. “During the encounter, the agents grew suspicious of the driver’s behavior and they decided to request for a K-9 team to respond. The K-9 alerted to the truck’s engine compartment,” agent Theron S. Francisco said in a news release. Agents said they found four packages of heroin inside the truck’s air intake box. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 66-year-old man was hospitalized Saturday morning with wounds he suffered in a stabbing in the Mira Mesa neighborhood of San Diego and a 19-year-old suspect was in custody.The victim was walking in the area of Westview Parkway and Galvin Avenue about 9:10 p.m. Friday when he got into an argument with the suspect, who stabbed him three times, then ran away through the parking lot of a business, according to Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department.The victim was stabbed in the chest and suffered cuts to his stomach and finger. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries, Heims said.Police searched the area and located the suspect, identified as Dejon Heard, and took him into custody, Heims said.Anyone who witnessed the stabbing was asked to call San Diego police Northeastern Division detectives at 858-538-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580- 8477. 929

  

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 12-year-old girl suffered a broken arm and leg when she was struck by a vehicle while crossing a San Diego street, authorities said.It was reported at 10:48 p.m. Saturday in the 10600 block of Tierrasanta Boulevard, said San Diego police Officer Robert Heims.The girl was crossing the street in a crosswalk but against a red pedestrian crossing signal, Heims said.``An unknown vehicle was westbound on Tierrasanta Boulevard and struck the pedestrian,'' he said. The vehicle fled the scene.Paramedics took the girl to a hospital for treatment of a broken left humerus and broken left femur, which were not life-threatening injuries, Heims said. 671
