AMC Theatres will reopen around 450 of its U.S. theaters in mid-July as part of a phased reopening following what its CEO called a “painful” hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Leawood-based chain’s first theaters will reopen on July 15, followed by its remaining 150 U.S. locations in time for the release of “Mulan” on July 24 and “Tenet” on July 31, according to a news release.AMC Theatres, already struggling before the pandemic, reported a nearly .2 billion loss for the first quarter of the year after it shuttered theaters worldwide.“After a painful almost four-month hiatus due to the coronavirus, we are delighted to announce that movies are coming back to the big screen at AMC,” AMC President and CEO Adam Aron said in the news release. “…I cannot emphasize enough how much care and attention to detail we have taken in developing AMC Safe and Clean, our absolute commitment to optimizing the health and safety of our theaters for our guests and associates.”Theaters will reopen with reduced seating capacity to encourage social distancing, along with increased cleaning, contactless ticketing, and mobile food and beverage orders.AMC said it expects different versions of seating limits in theaters to be in place until Thanksgiving, though it also acknowledged that those plans could change depending on local and regional health conditions. All theater employees will be required to wear masks. Initially, the company said masks would only be a requirement for guests in jurisdictions that require people to wear them in public. After facing scrutiny for the decision, which Aron told Variety was made because the company did "not want to be drawn into a political controversy," AMC reversed course on Friday and said masks would be a requirement for guests in all of its theaters."At AMC Theatres, we think it is absolutely crucial that we listen to our guests," a news release on Friday said. "Accordingly, and with the full support of our scientific advisors, we are reversing course and are changing our guest mask policy."Masks will be sold for at all locations for those who do not have one or forget to bring one. Those who are not willing to wear masks will not be admitted or allowed to stay, AMC said Friday.KSBH was the first to report this story. 2288
After three full days of deliberations, the jury in the trial of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort still has not returned a verdict.Jurors will return Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. ET.Manafort is charged with 18 counts of tax evasion, bank fraud and hiding foreign bank accounts in the first case brought to trial by special counsel Robert Mueller as part of the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 US election. He has pleaded not guilty to all the charges.Judge T.S. Ellis and both teams of lawyers met twice met Monday morning in private. The conversations lasted about 10 minutes each, and Ellis said transcripts will be made public at the end of the trial. The trial carries major implications for the future of Mueller's investigation. Trump has repeatedly called the probe a "witch hunt" that hasn't found evidence of Russian collusion with his campaign, and his allies in and out of the White House say the special counsel should wrap things up. 977

After a few weeks away, "Saturday Night Live" returned to take some shots at Fox News and President Trump. The NBC variety series kicked off with a cold open of Leslie Jones as Fox News anchor Harris Faulkner reporting alerts like just the word "Mexicans" and if former President Obama could be impeached. It then went to a joint press conference with Alec Baldwin's President Trump and leaders from the Baltic states."Let's make this quick," Baldwin's Trump said. "I have a lot of trade war to escalate here, OK? That's why I just announced tariffs on more Chinese products like fireworks and finger traps."The fake president also said that he expelled the "infamous Chinese billionaire P.F. Chang" and was now welcoming the leaders from the Baltic nations."Even in the game Monopoly, Baltic Avenue was always my favorite property," Baldwin as Trump said before reading a prepared statement to prove that he "can read."The joint press conference touched on many issues, including Baldwin's Trump reading his notes to not congratulate Russian President Vladimir Putin on his election win (which, of course, he did), calling one of the Baltic leaders a "gypsy woman" and zoning out during the conference."Oh my god, I'm already so bored," Baldwin's internal monologue as Trump said while the other leaders were talking. "I wish I was watching 'Roseanne.' How great is that show? Roseanne loves me. She's like a good Rosie O'Donnell."Baldwin's Trump also answered questions from reporters about topics like why he hates Amazon and its CEO, Jeff Bezos."I hate Jeff," Baldwin as the president said. "He's way richer than me and he admits to being bald so I feel threatened on two levels."But before the end of the press conference, the fake president had to deal with a giant Easter bunny that showed up."One more thing, does anyone else see this rabbit?" he said. "I'm not the only one that sees this rabbit, right?"Baldwin's Trump then welcomed the audience to "SNL" with the show's signature phrase, "Live ... From New York, it's Saturday night!" 2052

It's heartbreaking," said Shari Sullivan, whose son is in 7th grade. MESSAGE FROM ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL TO PARENTS:Good afternoon, this is Joe Flanagan, Asst Principal of Anderson Middle School.
