SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A resident inside an Encanto home opened fire on an intruder Wednesday, San Diego Police said.The victim first vandalized a car in the 6800 block of Charlene Ave. in the Broadway Heights section of Encanto, according to police.Police believe the victim then used a rock to break into a home where people were inside. One person was armed and fired a shot at the intruder.The victim was taken to the hospital. He may be related to the people in the home, and may have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs, police said.Officers did not release the victim’s identity or condition. 612

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man who reportedly threatened to “kill all the gays and children” at the San Diego Pride parade was charged with three bank robberies after authorities linked him to both the threats and the robberies. According to authorities, Andre Lafayette Holmes was linked to three bank robberies in San Diego County spanning from 2016 to 2019 after reportedly making the threats against Pride. FBI agents identified Holmes following threats he made to Pride organizers on July 10, 2019, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s office. In the first of two late-morning calls to organizers of the parade, the caller said: : “I think I’m going to have to kill all the gays and the children.” He then repeated, “I’m going to have to kill the f------ and children.” The employee asked, “Sir, what’s your name?” The caller replied: “I don’t like them” and “I hate the f------," the U.S. Attorney's office says. Authorities say he then hung up the phone before calling again about four minutes later, stating: “F--- Donald Trump. I hate Hillary. I hate f---. I’m going to shoot up the Pride event.” San Diego Police were able to track Holmes down near Miramar College using his cellphone. After searching his vehicle and home, investigators found evidence linking him to the bank robberies, including a semi-automatic pistol, a rubber “old man” mask, a large bag of cash and clothes believed to have been worn by the bank robber. Holmes is accused of robbing a US Bank on Campo Road in Spring Valley on November 4, 2016; Mission Federal Credit Union in San Diego on June 14, 2018, and California Bank and Trust on Fifth Avenue, also in San Diego, on June 28, 2019. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A man was arrested Thursday after attacking police with railroad spikes and rocks in a Barrio Logan train yard, police said.San Diego Police were called to the BNSF Railway Yard along Harbor Drive around 10 a.m. to reports of a trespasser. Officers arrived to find a man who had armed himself with a stick and railroad spikes, police said.The suspect reportedly threw the spike at officers and fled under a rail car, refusing to come out. The man also threatened to kill a police K-9 on scene, SDPD added.Police created "decision making space" and tried to talk the suspect into surrendering. After those efforts failed, officers used shotgun beanbags, pepper balls, and eventually a K-9 officer to get the man to surrender. He was pulled from under the railcar and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries, including dog bites, police confirmed.No officers were injured during the event. 927

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A local father is just a few days away from reuniting with his family who is in federal quarantine in Northern California at Travis Air Force Base. Ken Burnett's wife and two young children were visiting Wuhan, China when the coronavirous broke out. The city shut down and the three were stranded, unable to fly home. Their 14-day federal quarantine ends on Tuesday. Burnett plans on traveling to Northern California to reunite with his wife and kids so they can all travel back to San Diego together.
