Hospital nurses near Philadelphia went on strike on Tuesday and Wednesday, airing a grievance over working conditions amid the coronavirus pandemic.On Wednesday, the nurses’ union said they were told they will now be locked out of their jobs through the end of the week. GOLDEN, Colo. — A man who escaped from a Colorado Department of Corrections prison in Golden Tuesday morning has been captured. According to police, Sean Garcia, 27, was located and arrested in Denver. The escapee was taken into custody after authorities set a perimeter in the area. Garcia had escaped from the state prison facility by climbing a perimeter fence.Garcia is serving time for weapons and theft charges out of Rio Blanco County. His Parole eligibility date was in January, and his mandatory release date was Sep. 2 of this year, according to the DOC. Details as to how Garcia managed to escape the secure facility by climbing a fence have not been released. GLENDALE, AZ — It's official: The San Francisco 49ers will play their next two home games in Arizona after local COVID-19 restrictions prevented them from playing at their home field."The San Francisco 49ers have come to an agreement with the National Football League and Arizona Cardinals which allows the 49ers to host their Weeks 13 and 14 home games against the Buffalo Bills and Washington Football Team at State Farm Stadium in Arizona," the 49ers said Monday in a statement.Over the weekend, California's Santa Clara County announced a number of new COVID-19 restrictions, which banned all sports — professional, collegiate, and youth — and required people to quarantine for two weeks if they traveled 150 miles away.Levi's Stadium, home to the 49ers, is located in Santa Clara County."The Cardinals organization, State Farm Stadium and League officials have been supportive and accommodating as we work through the many logistical issues involved in relocating NFL games," the Arizona Cardinals said in a statement.The Cardinals will host the Los Angeles Rams at State Farm Stadium on Sunday, Dec. 6. (AP) — A Florida sheriff says he will deputize every gun owner in his county to put down any violent protests his deputies can’t handle alone.Clay County Sheriff Darryl Daniels gave no indication in a three-minute video released Wednesday that any demonstrations are planned in his suburban Jacksonville county.Daniels also said he would protect any peaceful protests, but added that if anyone starts “tearing up Clay County, that is not going to be acceptable.”“If we can’t handle you, I’ll exercise the power and authority as the sheriff and I’ll make special deputies of every lawful gun owner in the county and I’ll deputize them to this one purpose: to stand in the gap between lawlessness and civility,” said Daniels, sporting a white cowboy hat as he stood in front of 18 deputies.Daniels, who is African American, said in the video that his department has a “great relationship” with its residents, but “if you come to Clay County and think for one second we’ll bend our backs for you, you’re sadly mistaken.”“The second you step out from up under the protection of the Constitution, we’ll be waiting on you and give you everything you want: all the publicity, all the pain, all the glamour and glory for all that five minutes will give you.”Daniels, a Republican finishing his first term, is being challenged by six opponents in the upcoming election. HOOD RIVER, Ore. -- A teenager who started the massive Eagle Creek Fire in Oregon has been ordered to pay more than in restitution, according to KOMO.The judge made the decision Monday. The teen’s attorney argued that the massive restitution would violate Oregon and U.S. constitutions because it would inflict “cruel and unusual punishment.”The Eagle Creek Fire started in September of 2017 and destroyed more than 48,000 acres of forest land in the Columbia River Gorge.The teen was 15 at the time of the fire. According to authorities, the teen was tossing fireworks into brush while hiking on the Eagle Creek Trail. One of the fireworks ignited the fire. 670
