TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) — The United States has carried out its second federal execution this week, killing by lethal injection a Kansas man whose lawyers contended he had dementia. Wesley Ira Purkey was put to death Thursday at a prison in Terre Haute, Indiana. Purkey was convicted of kidnapping and killing a girl in Missouri and dismembering her body. He expressed remorse before his execution, saying he regretted the “pain and suffering” he caused. The victim's father says he hopes Purkey “rots in hell.” The Supreme Court cleared the way for Purkey's execution to take place just hours before. Another man, Daniel Lewis Lee, was put to death Tuesday, ending a 17-year hiatus on federal executions. TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. -- A Walmart employee called Tarpon Springs, Florida police on Thursday to report a strong odor coming from a van parked in the store's parking lot. The employee told police the older model van had insect activity on the interior of the van's windows and there was a strong smell coming from the van. Police responded to the location and found an older model Ford E-150 van parked at the north end of the parking lot near Tarpon Avenue. When officers entered the vehicle, they discovered a dead person. Detectives have responded to the scene and are conducting a full investigation into the death. The identity of the deceased is unknown at this time.  701

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A 30-year-old man was forced to leave his parents’ home after they sued him for refusing to leave, according to KABC.The man, Michael Rotondo, was ordered to leave by a judge Tuesday. Rotondo’s parents say he would leave, despite several notices.The man argued that he wasn’t given enough time to leave, saying he should have been given at least six months.Rotondo’s parents claim they started giving him notices in February, even offering to give him more than ,000 to help him find a place.Rotondo said he took the money, but it wasn’t enough to find another place to live. Court filings show that Rotondo doesn’t contribute to the family’s expenses and doesn’t help out with chores.The man says he runs a “website business” and was forced to move home eight years ago after losing a job. 818
