Those wanting to save some money by purchasing a used car may be in for sticker shock. The used vehicle market is seeing an “unseasonal sharp uptick due to unique market conditions” because of the coronavirus pandemic.This also means those with a used car sitting around could get top dollar for a trade-in or sale.Edmunds, which has been tracking automotive trends since the 60s, says the average used car listing price was 8 more in July than in June. Large trucks had the biggest one-month jump, with listing prices ,301 more in July than in June.Meanwhile, trade-ins are, on average, seeing 16.4 percent more value in July compared to June. And those used vehicles are not sticking around on the lots for long. In June, it was taking an average of 44 days to turn around a used car, and in July, it was down to 38 days. This is the steepest one-month decline in Edmunds history of keeping records."It's a seller's market right now. Although used vehicles continue to offer significant discounts compared to new, used-car shoppers will find themselves in the unusual position where they might not have as much negotiation power because demand is so high and dealers will be less inclined to be flexible," said Ivan Drury, Edmunds' senior manager of insights in a release from the company."If you're in the market for a used car, what you see in terms of pricing is likely what you're going to get, so do your research and be prepared to act quickly if you have your heart set on a vehicle."The reason behind the sharp increase in demand for used vehicles is for a variety of pandemic-related causes, says Drury.Consumers are being more cost-conscious right now as unemployment is high, interest rates and offers from dealers are favorable for car buying, and inventory has been “severely limited on the new side.”Automakers closed their factories for several weeks earlier this year as states issued stay-at-home orders to control the coronavirus pandemic. There is a nationwide voluntary recall of almost 19,000 bottles of hand sanitizer over concerns the mixture contains methanol.The Food and Drug Administration announced Monday the company ITECH361 is recalling their All Clean Hand Sanitizer, Moisturizer and Disinfectant sold in one liter bottles. The 18,940 recalled bottles have UPC Code 628055370130.According to the FDA, substantial exposure to methanol (wood alcohol) can cause nausea, vomiting, headache, blurred vision, and more serious conditions including death. There are no reports at this time of anyone getting sick from the recalled sanitizer.This may sound familiar. Last month, the FDA warned people about sanitizer from the manufacturer Eskbiochem SA de CV in Mexico Because of possible methanol concerns.The ITECH361 product was distributed around the country to distributors and retailers. TORONTO, Canada (KGTV) - Incredible dash cam video shows tires flying after a car hit a tow truck Saturday on a Toronto, Canada highway.The camera attached to Adil Kanan’s tow truck was recording the moments Kanan stepped out to help three people in a disabled pickup truck."They seemed to be all alert and fine," he told CTV Toronto.RELATED: Tow truck driver seriously injured in crash on SR-125Karan returned to his truck to alert police that his vehicle and a truck were blocking one lane of the freeway."As I was sitting there looking through my back window, that's when I observed the white Lexus approaching at a high rate of speed," he said.The white vehicle hit the pickup truck, sending debris flying.RELATED: Bear opens door, steals from car in Lake TahoeOne of the pickup truck’s passengers had been standing outside the truck and was thrown into the guardrail.Two people inside the truck were ejected, and the driver ended up face-down on the highway. Three Michigan middle school students were hospitalized Wednesday after they unknowingly consumed Cookie Crisp marijuana edibles, according to Warren police. Police say the eighth graders ate the cereal given to them by a ninth grader. The cereal reportedly contained marijuana oil. The students, who attend Michigan Math and Science Academy on Dequindre, consumed the cereal before school and later complained they were dizzy and lightheaded, according to police.The girls were sent to a nearby hospital. The older student has been detained by police. Police said parents of the victims and the principal were notified.  659

TIJUANA, Mexico (KGTV) - According to a Tijuana newspaper, a power outage over the course of last weekend at the Tijuana General Hospital led to the deaths of five patients who were on ventilators. Officials, though, deny it.On Wednesday, ABC10 News spoke media partner Televisa's anchor Estephania Báez about the report from newspaper Zeta. “What they got was interviews with doctors but they remained [anonymous]," said Báez.She said that state authorities and the hospital admitted there were five deaths but denied that they were caused by the outage and claimed that a backup generator kicked in but only at low voltage.Televisa is reporting that copper wire thieves are suspected of causing the loss of power. “The thieves that [steal] the copper from homes decided to do it to the General Hospital and I can’t even think about why they did this with knowing that patients are connected to ventilators,” added Báez.Tijuana's General Hospital has been hit hard since the start of the pandemic. There have been reports of a lack of beds and equipment. More recently, Báez said, there have been problems related to accessing cancer care. “They even had lots of families that have children with cancer protesting outside the hospital because they couldn't even get their treatment done,” she added.In part of a statement to ABC10 News, the hospital wrote that it categorically denies that the outage resulted in the death of any of its patients.ABC10 News reached out to the Joint Commission which oversees safety standards for hospitals in the United States to ask about power outage protocols. We were sent the following."The Joint Commission Emergency Management Standard EM.02.02.09 EP 5 requires that hospitals identify an alternative means for providing "fuel required for building operations, generators, and essential transport services that the hospital would typically provide." The facility should assess how it would be affected if outside emergency support could not be obtained for 96 hours. This does not mean that they need to have 96 hours’ worth of fuel on site. The plan could include memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with suppliers to replenish fuel as needed during the emergency period. Additionally, the plan could be to operate without normal branch of power to reduce fuel consumption, to extend run-time of the available fuel. If the generator is used as the backup power source for the life safety branch of the electrical system, the facility should have enough fuel to run the generator for a least 1-1/2 hours for as long as the building is occupied." 2592
