Joe Cunningham, D-SC, might not be leaving the US House the way he wanted to, but he certainly was going to make the best out of his November election defeat.Giving a farewell speech on the floor of the House on Thursday, Cunningham pulled out a can of beer from his jacket and opened it. Cunningham was toasting bipartisanship during his address on the floor."For the betterment of this country, we have to come together. We have to sit down and listen to each other and maybe even have a beer. The spirit of the bipartisanship and cooperation. I raised this glass to my colleagues, both Democrats and Republicans,” Cunningham said.It’s unclear if Cunningham actually finished the beer. Police said Wednesday that Eesa Cullors was last seen in the area of Center Avenue and Division Street.She is described as having curly hair, brown eyes and was wearing a black hoodie with “VS” on the front and black leggings. OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) — Since 1975, the Oceanside Senior Citizens Association has been serving hot meals to North County seniors in need. Due to financial hardships, that will end after Dec. 28."Our program has skyrocketed, we have a lot of seniors that are below poverty level, they have no family, they have no finances," Executive Director Sylvia Spears said. "Our meal is sometimes the only meal they get for the day and we ask for a donation only, we never turn anybody down if they can’t make a donation."Spears says the program is funded by senior donations, the county, and grants. However, she says senior donations have dropped 75 percent and they now have more clients than ever. Spears says the nonprofit asked the City of Oceanside for help, requesting an additional ,000 a month. The city could only offer half of that."I had to realize that we just couldn’t go on anymore and that’s hard because I know what these meals mean to these seniors," said Spears. Despite the nonprofit shutting down, the city says it’s committed to ensuring there’s no gap in services."Those who’ve been participating in the nutrition program will continue to have access to that here at the Senior Center as well as within their homes if they choose to do so," said Mark Olson, Parks and Recreation Division manager for Oceanside.Olson says they are working closely with the county to bring in another meal provider. 1423

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of expanding a clause that prevents the application of anti-discrimination laws from religious institutions.In a 7-2 decision, with liberal justices Ginsburg and Sotomayor dissenting, the court expanded the "ministerial exception," siding with a California Catholic school that did not renew the contracts of two teachers.In the case of Our Lady of Guadalupe School v. Morrisey-Berru, the teachers claimed they were discriminated against because they were released from their contracts after they did not receive certification in a Catholic teaching course. The teacher later sued, saying she had been discriminated against because of her age.However, the citing precedent from the landmark 2014 Burwell v. Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc. case, the court ruled that the school and other such institutions are protected from discrimination lawsuits. 896
